Does bleeding always mean miscarriage?

Im just wondering if anyone knows if light bleeding always means miscarriage? I know early on you can have implantation bleeding. But I am 12 weeks, and have just tonight had some very light bleeding, I have not had sex or a pelvic exam (I know these can lead to some light bleeding). Does anyone have any advice or comments on this? what could it be caused by if it's not cervical irritation from something like a pelvic exam?

thanks in advance!

Bleeding does often mean miscarraige, but definitely not always.
It is scary though, isn't it?
Have you had any pain with it? I had some light bleeding at around 9 weeks - no sex or pelvic exam, just random bleeding. I had it on and off over the weekend, went for a scan on the Monday morning and they said everything was fine. They couldn't find a reason for the bleeding - but said that was actually a good thing.

It's always worth getting checked out, if for no other reason than to set your mind at ease.
Good luck hun.

It by far doesn't always mean miscarriage, especially at 12 weeks. You should definitely give your doctor or midwife a call though because it's something that should always be checked to see what's causing it. I think a lot of women have bleeding that doesn't harm anything but you have to check to be sure all is well.

No! I've had 2 quite large bleeds. One at 5w 3 d, and one at 8w. I am now 10 weeks and everything is fine so far. Both times I definitely thought I was miscarrying.
I hope everything is ok for you.

That sounds scary but likely everything is fine. A check with your doc or mw is a great idea, but try not to stress too much about it (I know, easier said than done).

Typically, clots are a bad sign. Bright red is a bad sign. Heavy flow is a bad sign. Really awful cramping and back ache that accompanies the bleeding is not good either.

However, there are always women who have the above, and go on with healthy pregnancies.

Brown spotting is okay, as this is old blood. Pink blood is okay, as well.

Spotting is typically better than all out bleeding. If you are soaking through pads, I would go to the ER immediately.

The statistics differ, but I think 30% of women experience this, and about 1/2 miscarry. BUT, if you have seen a heartbeat after 7 weeks, your odds of the pregnancy being successful are 90%+.

Be calm, relax, put your feet up, and try not to stress! Definitely go to the ER or call your GP if you are nervous.

Sending sticky !!! Good lucky, honey. I'm sorry! Pregnancy is so scary, isn't it?
