Booking Appointment...

I've got my midwife booking appointment today and was wondering what I can expect? xx

hey they will just go through with you your medical history your families medican history same for dh, what sort of bc you were on was the baby planned tell you about future appointmants and you will need to take in a wee sample. just stuff like that and more than likely take blood too xxx

I've got my booking appointment today too

I'm told that the following will be covered:

Date of last period
Previous miscarriages, abortions and births
Medical history of you and your partner
Blood samples
Urine testing
Blood pressure
Height/Weight, BMI
Lifestyle
Birthing options
Referral for an ultrasound scan

Hi Hun,

Ive got my booking in appointment aswell today im 12+2 so a bit late but last time they didnt really need to do anything till 12 weeks anyway so didnt want to rush i will have the same as everyone say above and also blood test for downs etc because im 12 weeks also a consultant will be arranged for me cus ive got a high bmi and complications with my son. The appointment usually takes around 1-2 hours

1-2hrs????? I have had mine, they go through past pregnancies and health. Take bloods and refer you for a 12week scan. Mine took 10mins

You will also be asked to choose the hospital/birthing/unit/home birth type - I didnt realise I was going to be asked so soon and felt I had to just choose - my partner choose but then I rang up later and they had to change all the paperwork and I felt really bad!
So maybe visit different hospitals first before you go for your booking in appt.

last time my booking in appointment took almost two hours and when the midwife rang me last week she said between 1-2 hours cus i needed to make childcare arrangements. Maybe its different in different areas i dont know!!

I was told by my dr the booking in would be about 1/2 day!! But I believe this also includes time for the first scan and lots of waiting around I suppose!
