Had scan, saw gestational sac but no yolk

I had my first scan 5+4 and we saw the gestational sac. My bowel was obtstructing the view a bit but we could see it.

The fertility nurse couldnt see the yolk sac so I am back in a week. At this stage should I be able to see this.

There is a slim chance that I am nearer 5 weeks, I am not sure if this has any bearing.

you might not be as far along as you think. don't panic yet, just wait what the next scan shows. have they taken bloods for hcg or anything? fx'd for you hun. I know it's a worrying time. xxx

I had my first scan at what I thought was 7+1 last Thurs and all they could see was a sac that measured 15mm and a yolk sac and said the sac size was approximately 5-6 weeks hence why no fetal pole or baby was seen. If there's a chance you could be closer to 5 weeks I really wouldn't worry as I'm sure your next scan will show up at least the yolk sac. My friend had a similar experience at 5 weeks, she thought she was further on but they didn't see a yolk sac, then 8 days later they saw yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat and all was well! I have my second scan Thurs which i'm slightly nervous about but just keep telling myself what she did see looked healthy so hoping there is some progress and i'll get to see a heartbeat.

I've read somewhere that the yolk sac couldn't be seen until at least 5 weeks 5 d....so you just may be less further along than you thought---good sign that you have the gestational sac

I was scanned at 5+2 and they only saw the sac, no yolk or fetal pole. I was convinced I had a blighted ovum, but I went back a week later and on the the screen was a very very little bean with a hb, think it measured 4mm! That week of waiting was the longest of my life. I hope it does't drag as much for you as it did me!
