I don't know an awful lot about cravings (although I can't get enough of oranges at the minute!!!!!)

Have googled (god is that a good or bad thing?!?) and found that
"No one is really positive what causes cravings for salt during pregnancy. It's possible that it's hormonal. The body also retains more water during pregnancy, and sodium levels may need some balancing out, thus the cravings.

Another theory is that salt cravings can be triggered by morning sickness during pregnancy and the subsequent loss of fluids caused by it. "

Hope that helps...when I read it (especially the part about ms) it made sense to me. If you google 'craving salt in pregnancy' there are loads of results - so I guess it is pretty common!!!!!

Hope that helps - gotta support all those other 'July mummy to be's'!

Glad to put your mind at rest...seems to be pretty normal. I think the orange obsessions are to do with the horrid metalic taste... I work in a school and we have fruit delivered everyday..I find it really hard to walk past the fruit bowl if it has oranges in it! The sharp taste overpowers the metalic taste!!! I suppose it is better than chocolate - I have no interest in the stuff at the minute!!!

Spent weeks 4-7 eating mainly salt and vinegar potato chips (crisps). Wouldn't worry about it too much, it'll pass!

I craved salt in the week that I couldn't stomach anything, lucky timing I guess since all I could eat was saltine crackers.
For the past 2 weeks I've been craving sour patch kids as if they can solve everything that is wrong with the universe!! lol I put them in my lunches (of pasta or couscous & meat). What SO and I find so funny is that I've never been able to eat them because they have always been so sour and now I can't get enough.

I've looked up cravings on the internet and one article went so far as to say cravings are all in the mind of the woman. Almost like we make ourselves feel less guilty for eating things we shouldn't by saying it's a pregnancy craving so it's alright. To be honest, I think it's a load of crap but my point being don't take everything you see on the web at face value. If they have an article like that, imagine what else might be out there to make you worry or be upset.

I like salt too! I was licking the salt off of my crackers most of the time!

Any cravings I have now, I crave, get it and Bean doesn't want it, so it makes me feel sick!!

x
