| Holiday in first trimester Hi All,
I got my results from the HCG blood tests back and my GP has said that it is unlikely that is ectopic - which given my gyne condition is a relief- They went from 2122 to 7989 over a 3 day period. I can still go for an early scan and I am trying to hold out for that as long as possible for it - so I can get a better picture of how it is all going.
Anyway my question is- does anyone know if it is safe to go in the sun in the first tri? We fly to Mexico at Easter and fingers crossed I will be 10 weeks. I have read lots of conflictiong articles on the net, so I thought I would ask you all, as you were so knowledgable with my previous questions.
I am petrifeid of MC and I really don't want to do anything that may increase this risk. My GP has said that there is no reason not to go because if I am going to MC it would happen here in the UK or in Mexico- so travelling won't increase a risk. I haven't actually asked my GP about the sun, but I suppose I should. I know we shouldn't be over- heating, but does the sun actually cause any damage to a young "peanut"! ? has anyone any advice about natural mosquito repellants?
Also - Is it normal to be so petrified of MC - it is my first and I constantly worry, my DH thinks I am being too pesimistic.
Sorry for all the questions!!
Thanks
D

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I don't know about mosquito repellants. I think you're best asking a pharmacist for something.
As for the sun - it won't hurt baby. Just try not to get too hot because thats not meant to be good for baby in the early weeks (although I think 10 weeks is past the danger period for that) & drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated. Also be careful what you eat because in that climate food will go bad much quicker.
I hope you have a great time in Mexico. I'm so jealous!! Half of me is from near(ish) there. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I will be in California for Easter - 11 hour flight - I've been told its totally fine. Just make sure you do what you should on any flight - drink lots of water and move about to avoid DVT. Also ask if you can be near a toilet - then if your suffering with morning sickness you'll hav easy access.
the rest will be good too I'm sure. enjoy! Mexico is lovely!

I'm Currently Feeling: | It is completely safe to fly in the first ands second trimesters. My GP just told me to make sure I exercised my legs often. I flew to Texas at around 9 weeks and flew back to Canada around 11. The worst part of the trip was my nausea, the plane ride itself wasn't bad at all. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | You will be just fine. Women in sunny climates get plenty of sun when pregnant. Just be sure to use lots of sunscreen, and don't get to hot.
YES, it is totally normal to worry about losing the baby. We all have those fears. I still have them. It is totally normal. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sure is safe!
I went to Cuba in September and had no problems whatsoever.
I was just telling my husband how glad I was to have gone before the baby arrives.
Enjoy your vacation. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | hi if you are getting mosi repellent you need to make sure it has no deet in it.
Its best to find a natural product, i have some at home and will check the name of it for you.
also ask the doctor or pharmacist, when we were looking the pharmascist was really helpful and read all the ingredients and made deep thoughtful type noises!!
back in a short while withthe name of it! |

| Thank you to you all! I don't feel as worried now - but i'm sure I will come up with another worry soon!
My nausea started this week, so i'm not looking forward to the flight - but as "aquadementia" has pointed out - it will prob be nice to get away before the baby arrives - we won't be going to hot & sunny climates for a while!
I just don't want something like a MC to happen and I think "if only I hadn't....."
Thanks again, this is such a fab forum!

I'm Currently Feeling: | Oh ye - and just check that your travel insurance will cover you. Some annual policies dont cover pregnancy related issues. |
