Urinary Tract Infection?? **UPDATE - yes it was and i am now on antibiodics

Hi girls

Have any of you had an UTI. I think I have one has i have been awake all night feeling like i constantly have a full bladder and have to to to the toilet about every 10 minutes, but only a little bit comes out and when it does come out it is a bit painful, like a burning sensation. As soon as I am done my bladder feels completely full again, it is so uncomforable, I am planning on going to the doctor first thing this morning but they dont open for another 2 hours so have to wait.

Does this sound like it is a UTI ? And will antibiodics be safe to take? Obviously I will tell the doc i am pregnant.

***UPDATE - Doctor told me it was an infection and has given me a 7 day course of antibiodics, and has assured me they are totally safe during pregnancy, I have had one tablet so far (you have 3 per day) and i am already starting to feel a little bit better. Thanks girls for your replies xxx

Sorry you are feeling bad

It does sound like a UTI and your doc will give you some tablets to get rid of it for you. They usually work very quickly xx

yeah thats a UTI, I had many UTIs before, go to the doctor, it can be diagnosed very quickly from a urine sample and treated with antibiotcs. In the meantime drink as much water as possible to make urine less acidic and to flush the kidneys!

Sounds like one. Speak to your doctor and a short course of antibiotics should do the trick. As you're pregnant you're more susceptible to UTI's, so try to increase your fluid intake as much as possible. Hope you'll feel better soon. xxx

Ugh, definitely a UTI dear, I feel so sorry for you, they are just miserable! In addition to water like the other ladies have suggested, pound cranberry juice like it's your job. The acid and something else in the cranberry juice helps regulate the environment in your bladder and takes the pain away (a little). Make sure you look on the label and get a high percentage of juice, otherwise you're just drinking sugar of course

glad you been to the doctors.. I also took antibiotics for my chest infection when I was 7 weeks pregnant, they are safe! For the future drink loads of water or other fluids without caffeine to prevent them!
