When is first scan usually scheduled in UK?

Hey girls.
I am booked in to see my GP on Thurs to discuss being pregnant. I was just wondering when first scan usually is? Is it possible to ask for an early one? I have heard so many awful and worrying stories about mc and no heartbeats at 12wk scan....is that when it normally is? I think I would prefer one earlier to put my mind at rest. Any advice welcome.

The first scan is around 12 weeks and then the 2nd is around 20 weeks. It is possible to ask for an early one, but you may not then be able to have the 12 week one!! Unless you pay private for a scan which ranges from £50-£100 depending on where you are xx Hope this helps xx

The first scan is at 12 weeks and they rarely do an earlier one unless they think there is a problem or you have a history of mc you can get a private scan at 7 weeks i think dependent on area which is roughly 50 to 100 but the nhs give 2 scans in most hospitals 12 to 14 weeks and a 2nd one between 18 -22 weeks

justmarried if you are looking to go private I can recommend babybond. i had a private scan with them!

Think I am going to pay for an early one at 8 weeks in early December....only £99, be a nice Christmas pressie to have a little pic!

That's the website Ive just looked on! Gonna talk to hubby about it when we go for celebratory pub tea later on! Are they good?

No i won't.......the closest baby bond do is 1hr 20mins away!! So will just wait. To be honest if there is anything wrong am sure my body will tell me before the scan, so am fairly positive will be ok xx

I loooove scans and want to have a 4D one again

I can recommend babybond they are pricey but I think it's so worth it, they are very good!

I know i love them too!! Can you believe when i went to my midwife at 7ish weeks, she asked if 1:- i wanted amidwife this time and 2:- If i wanted any scans!! I asked what she ment and she said "well if you like we can just book you in to see me again at 34 weeks!!".

Scans are the best part of it.......also reassures you that all is ok.

I know this is my 3rd pregnancy, but i couldn't believe it xx

I have been told that despite previous mc I won't be getting a scan until 13wks. There is no way I can wait that long so I am going to book myself in for a private early scan with either TakeaPeek (£65) or UltrasoundNow (£85).
Thanks justmarried24 for giving me the idea of saying it's an early xmas pressie to myself!
