| Not Sure What To Think?! Morning Girls!
I went for my specalist appointment today, I had a scan and then saw a doctor I have never met before.
Anyway when I had my scan it only lasted about 3 minutes, there was still a heartbeat which was a good sign, and the scan was abdominal, (On thursday last week they couldnt pick the HB up until they did an internal scan!)
Anyway she then said I was 6+3 but on Thurs they said 6+6!?! Im confused!
Then I saw the 'Specailist' who I have never met before, I couldn't really undersatnd him becasue he spoke so fast and all he spoke about was refering me to a cardiologist (I have a heart condition)
I then asked if they had had my results from my chromosomes tests that me and my Fiance had done a couple of months ago!
So off he went to check... he came back and said MY results had come back fine but that they didnt have Jons yet?! Im sure the whole reason of us going for the blood test together is so they can send them off and get them back together?!
So when I asked if I had a HB and things were looking fine, did that mean the chromosomes tests didnt really matter now, to wich he just said no it may mainfest later in first trimester!
No words of encouragement or anything, just a basic your not out of the woods, and his tone was like he didnt even care!!
I dont know what to think now?! I was so happy when I saw the HB now I think that means nothing!!

| Yeah, i would go back or at least get an apt with your GP, he can then look at the notes and explain!!
A HB is such a good sign though, so congratulations xx I know you are worries and i would be 2, but a HB is a HB, so try and be happy that you got to see that xxx | | | | Status: Offline

| Your chromosomes being fine don't rule out that baby may have chromosomal issues, that's what he meant when he said that would reveal itself later in the first trimester. Over 95% of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other trisomies (T18, T13) are sporadic, meaning occur only in the baby and are not inherited... Screening tools such at the nuchal fold and blood tests are used to adjust your age related risk of having a baby with chromosomal problems.
Strange about your dates, but there is a lot of inter-user variability with the measurements. The important thing at this stage is that the heart beat is seen!! Ultimately if you're not happy it's completely within your rights to ask to see another doctor. So sorry you had a bad experience

| Thanks CJ,
I was more worried that they did the tests to see why I was miscarrying and they didnt get both our results back together - which i thought was the main aim!
Im more worried about having another miscarrige at the moment and that is what I meant by my question, maybe he understood it the way you did?
I dont know It just confused me this morning and Got me slightly worried! But your right I have a HB and thats the main thing - Im just going to concentrate on that!
I have a private scan booked for 10 weeks so in 2 and a half weeks - dont quite believe im only 6+3 from the abdo scan I think the internal last week was probably more relaiable, plus the woman this morning seemed kinda rushed!
Fingers crossed this is it for us!!
Thanks again fro your reply!!

xxxx | Oh yes, he definitely misunderstood your question! For sure, couples who have 3 or more miscarriages are offered chromosomal analysis to see if either one carries a translocation. Strange that your partner's results didn't come back at the same time. I would definitely phone the doctor who ordered the test and ask that this be shared with you ASAP! I understand the reason for you being worried now, but definitely try and focus on the positive, that precious heart beat!!! Sending all my positive thoughts to you,

| I hate when doctors can't be compassionate and encouraging. Some just don't have any people skills at all. Hope all is okay! | | | | Status: Offline
