Sonographer guessed at gender!

When I had my 12 week scan last Thursday, I asked the sonographer if she could tell the gender. This is because I want to know, DH doesnt, and he will be with me at the 20 week scan.
At the end of the scan she whispered to me that she 'thought it was boy' but that she 'couldnt be sure' (ie: 'dont sue me').
Does anyone know the odds are of her being correct? I know I should have asked her what she was basing it on (nub theory/looking at genitals), but I didnt. Has anyone else here had a 12 week gender prediction from a sonographer - either now or in the past, who can shed any light?

if they guess at a boy at 12 weeks it usually reliable it means there genitals are starting to move up to form the penis so I would say i think its accurate

I don't have a personal experience but was told by some friends of mine that very often they can tell at 12 weeks! I will certainly ask my doc next week when I go for my 12week one :-)

Mine wouldnt guess/tell today, she said its not good so early on as it may be wrong:/ as long as all is fine with little one i dont mind

I will find out sooner or later

At 12 weeks 3 days my sonographer and ob both said they thought boy - and my avatar is my living proof they were right!

I was 12 weeks when I found out I was pregnant with twins and she guessed that one was def. a boy she believe and the other one she said was a boy but wasn't totally sure...and guess what I had two beautiful boys...so you never know she could be right on...CONGRATS
