Similar story here. When I got my BFP I booked a Dr appointment. She was very nice but just told me to eat well, take folic acid and then told me to call the MW clinic. That was about 4 weeks ago and my first mw appointment is today - in 20 mins in fact! I am very much looking forward to officially being told I am indeed pregnant and not just moody and getting fat! I am not looking forward to the bloods - not good!

I posted the same thing last week hun as I felt a bit fobbed off by my GP as well! He told me to come back when I was 8 weeks, I hadnt told him why I was going before which is probably why I got the appointment!

I just spoke to my gyno though and he is giving me a private scan at 7 weeks, yay!! xx

I went the day i found out i never tell the horrid reception lady why i want to see as doctor they don't do a preg test as they say the ones you can buy are just as good as theirs so they take your word for it and yes most people don't see a mw till ten weeks as they don't like to see us ladys befor that! (very mean i say as you have soooo many questions) when the mw does bloods it is not to check your preg its for a full blood count and other things including a HIV screen! which i was not expecting and sometimes if you have lazy MW like we do here you don't see them till after your twelve weeks scan! i saw my MW at 16 weeks last time so this time i phoned at seven weeks to get an apointment
But the Gp needs to put in a refural to the MW for them to know your pregnant so yes you do need to see your doctor also to talk about any concerns you have, Don't let the reception staff put you off they always remind me of mini bull dogs trying to scare you all off

My gp basically told me to come back when I was 8 weeks, and the pregnancy was more viable!
And then explained to me how miscarraiges are common etc etc, just want you want to hear when you've had one before!
Then said for me to take folic acid, [which I was already doing]! So im counting down the weeks and then im going to be the biggest pain in their arse x

It is perfectly normal not to see anyone until around the 8w mark. i had my booking in appt with mw at 8+5. It does feel like the longest wait ever and i just wanted my pregnancy to b acknowledged so it felt more real if that makes sense.

veganmumtobe - if u are owrried by any pains or bleeding etc i would definately give nhs direct or docs a call even if it just for ur own piece of mind hun xxxx
