My DH really really wants to see an ultrasound. Would it be silly to book a private ultrasound at 6/7 weeks just to get an early peek at our bean?

I had a dating scan done at 7w4d and all we really saw was a jelly bean. It was cool definitely but not really much to see iykwim

My ob gives a complimentary ultra sound right away. I think it helps them really pin point the due date by the size when they are that small. The ob I had with my son did an ultra sound every single appointment and it was awesome!!! I have a video diary of everyone of them and he started at my first visit. It is just how he did his appointments. I think anytime you get to see your little life it is an awesome experience no matter how tiny they are.

As eager as he is, waiting a few more weeks will make it so much more worthwhile. Are you planning on getting a scan for the nuchal testing? At that point your little one actually looks like a wee little baby and you'll both get to see it moving around.

At 7 weeks, like Sweetie said, it's just a little bean with a heartbeat and while that's cool to see, there really isn't much at all to see and I'm not sure I'd personally shell out for a private scan that early.
