These dont really count as urban myths, but they are true facts from olden day times and are pretty freaky! ...

In 1500's (and for centuries before) women went into "confinement" for their last month or two of pregnancy - that is they "took to their bed" and were not seen by anyone except their nurse/mother etc. This was because it was thought they were very fragile, but also because it was considered gross to see them heavily pregnant!!

In really old times (think times before jesus) after a woman delivered her baby, they would pack her womb with herbs and wool to promote healing. Freaky!

One old wives tale is that you shouldn't put your arms over your head, like when you're hanging clothes or something, because the cord will wrap around the baby's neck.

i heard a tale, about when you crave food, and eat it, not to touch your skin, as that will mark/scar the baby on the same spot...
