It's not mandatory but we are classed as high risk so I guess you have a personal choice to make. Having said all that I havnt decided or been invited for the jab yet x

It is highly recommended but no one can force you to take it.

i'm not having it in the first trimester---just a maternal instinct not to, but my friend who is pregnant did ALOT of research (even read through the boring clinical trials) and decided to get it at about 14 weeks. I will be in my second trimester around the end of december, and flu season doesnt end here until about march/april (last year was well into june with the swine), so I may get it just so I don't have to worry about every stranger I stand next to for 6 months. Plus, I am a teacher, so there's all kinds of things coming and going. Just my thoughts for now---who knows if they will change.

I dont think I will have it. there is too little clinical evidence that it is safe in pregnancy and I am scared that its the next thalidimide.

I'm booked in to have the adjuvanted one, Pandemrix on Tuesday 17th November. Can't wait to have it done. I work as a pharmacist and think it's only a matter of time before I catch swine flu from someone. I'm scared by the number of otherwise healthy pregnant women who have died from it. I'm putting my faith in the Department of Health and they are strongly recommending it for all pregnant women. If you do want it done don't wait for your GP to contact you. I rang mine up and they gave me an appointment straight away.
