what can i expect?

hello!

i have my first appointment with the GP tomorrow, DH is coming with me too.....but what on earth am i likely to encounter on this visit?!

ps i'm only about 5 weeks pregnant......

More than likely, the doctor will ask you questions about your health history, confirm your pregnancy through a urine test and perhaps send you for some bloodwork.

Not really much happens during the first appointment...at least here in Canada.

My first Drs appointment was a bit of a non event! He gave me the once over and didnt do any tests - just got me booked in with the midwife.

My first appointment was a lot of questions (about mine and DH's history), she asked us what hospitals we were considering, and sent me for blood work--didn't even do a urine test. She also asked us about the triple testing (which we turned down, but I think it has to be done pretty early one, before second tri if you are going to get it done), and made sure I was taking the supplements I need to take. I don't think that there really is much that they can do at this point--but it's still good to go so you can ask any questions you want, etc.

yes,pretty much the same.Asked a few questions,confirmed my pregnancy through urine test,made some other health tests and send me to my obgyn.Nothing scary,don't worry...good luck

but Vickie - what is the triple test?

i think its the test for downs syndrome spina bifida etc not too sure but on my 1st gp's visit he took my height weight pressed my stomache asked me to pee into pot and booked me in with the antenatal clinic and my practise midwife... nothin thrilling really
