Just fedup and upset with hospital care

Ive had 2 early scans 1st said i was 5 weeks then two weeks later i get told im 8plus4. The doc said i still needed a dating scan but they are refusing me a scan as they say i have my dates now. There dates just dont match my dates and i want a home birth and its going to cause problems as i go over my due date i can just see me not getting my home birth with them having the dates wrong. Ive been told even if the 20 week scan shows the dates i think it dosnt matter as it will still go by the original scan dates.

I know im being stupid but the whole thing has really upset me

Even if i paid for a private scan they wont accept the dates either

Surely if the doc said you still needed a dating scan then you should get one!

Talk to your midwife and tell her your concerns.

Ive been on the phone to her this morning and she said theres nothing she can do. Its like they all think im lying there where 5 people in the room when i had my scan so surely someone knows what the doctor also in the room said as they had a discussion as to when i would get my date through aswell. Im just emotional i think but theres no way im not getting my homebirth because they wont let me have a proper dating i dont even have a picture from my scan

Why would the doctor say you still need a dating scan and then they refuse you?!? It does not make sense! Who is refusing the scanners or the doctor?

The scanners, i had a letter to ring and book and they said i need to book my 20 weeks scan as ive already had a dating one. Apparently noone can overide these women!!

I cannot believe that an 8 week scan would override your 12 week scan - so much happens in those 4 weeks?!!?

I really hope you get it sorted. Not that you should have to - but if you went privately would they pay any attention to the dates given by them or only by their own dates?

My doctor said I needed an early scan due to my history and when the midwife tried to get me one the hospital would not allow it, so maybe it is the same sort of thing in which case I don't think their is much you can do. However, I do think they will take the date given from your 20 week scan.

They do take notice of the 20 week scan. Does not have to mean a home birth is out of the question. My friend was sure she was further on than the dating scan, she is now 29 weeks, being scanned again next week as more like 33 weeks!!

What do u mean when you say even if you paid for a private scan, they wont accept the dates?
