Starting to panic about H1N1 please help me!!

Apparently every pregnant woman that has gone to hospital here with h1n1 has died.

the non adjuvent shot isnt even available yet!! Then it takes 2 weeks to work.

Im so scared...I wasnt going to get it...but after more research I think I am.

I just dont want to get sick before then. I work in health care and I am around sick people all day, I also have asthma

I am sorry to hear that. I know that it is getting bad around here where I live and I cant get the vacination because I am not 20wks along yet and they will not offer it to the public yet. It is fustrating and scary. Stay positive! I would try to get the vacination as it is now recommended for pregnant ppl and where you are in health care. Good luck!

I find it very interesting (and scary) that there has been NO recommendation here is the states about getting the H1N1 vaccine only after the first trimester, let alone the 20th week of pregnancy! I am so glad there are websites like this where we can get perspectives from all around the globe. Definitely going with my gut on this one and not getting the vaccine at least until I feel like I am far enough along....or at all...

I'm a doctor and we just lost a pregnant woman last week. I'm definitely getting it, and am recommending it to all pregnant women, especially after what I've just witnessed. These are preventable deaths, the risk to you is real.

I am going to call my OB in the morning to check if they have received their vaccination. But I was thinking there was a 30 day wait between the regular seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 vacc... is this true? and when should you get the H1N1 vacc?

H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine are being offered at the same time here (one in each arm). If not received at the same time, then the recommendation is to get H1N1 first then the seasonal flu afterwards (not sure about the time lag between both, although if they are giving it simultaneously, one would assume that a 30 day wait is unnecessary). Definitely clarify with your OB!

I live in the States and I didn't know that there was a recommended time for pregnant women to get the H1N1 shot...20 weeks???? Every time it is mentioned they just say it is safe for pregnant women...so are they saying else where we should wait until after 20 weeks?

I am so confused I dont know what to do?

Here where I live it is still recommended for pregnant women. I guess I should have rephased it. All pregnant women should get it here where I live. But because they are short of the vacine they will not give to the general public yet. They will only give it to high risk ppl. If you are not over 20wks where I live and do not have an underlying condition you cant get it because there is not enough vacine here. Only high risk can get the vacine, which I dont think is right.
