Exactly...they wouldn't give it to us if they thought it was bad for our bean. Think about how many people have died from it that were pregnant?? Then think about how many complications there is with people that have had the H1N1 shot?? Then make your decision. I am very confident in my decision
100% agreed. Have to say I didn't appreciate the sore deltoid, but I'm soooo happy I did this when I did: we're having the start of our major outbreak in Toronto now, and I feel so much better knowing I'll be immunized!

I got the H1N1 yesterday and I feel fine and I also have prego friends that have gotten it. They are really recommending it at my OB office. My DH was also recommending that I get it.. Im almost 10 weeks, so far so good... There has now been many confirmed cases in my area so better safe than sorry is what I say.... Good Luck

With this one, by next week I'll be immune: my goal was to be immune BEFORE the start of my 2nd trimester, since women in their 2nd and 3rd trimesters are at highest risk if they get H1N1. There is no contra-indication to getting the vaccine before 14 weeks: some countries have limited supply and are giving priority to women 14 weeks +. If you can get it in the first trimester, do so for sure!!!

Hi Junebug,

I thought I read somewhere that in Canada you couldn't have the swine flu vaccine containing adjuvant until you were 20 weeks. Has this now changed?

In the UK it is recommended by the Department of Health in all trimesters.

we are having out breaks here in NH as well. I even got the boys (6 years) the H1N1 as they are around me they are high risk. I am just glad I did it when I did....as the Dr said we don't know if we will have any left when you come back for your next appt so I jumped all over it.

Hi Junebug,

In the UK it is recommended by the Department of Health in all trimesters.
There was never such a rule: the one with adjuvant was recommended from the start in first trimester and OB/GYNs have been recommending it, as per the SOGC (Society of Obstetricians of Canada)'s recommendation. There is NO data stating that adjuvants are unsafe in first trimester, have been administered to first trimester pregnant women for years in the regular seasonal flu. The H1N1 is no different: safe in pregnancy, throughout the trimesters. WHO has also stated so this week.
