First Drs appt - confusion!!!

Well, he was a very nice doctor, but completely confused me. I was working on 5th Jan being fdlp as that was the day I started to m/c, but apparently I've done that all wrong and should have gone from the first possible day I could have got pregnant so have recalculated and finally have a pregnancy ticker!!! Anyway I have to wait for the ante-natal team to call me in the next week to see if I can have an early scan. And if they don't call me, then chase them.

So today I'm due on 19th October, and I'm 5 weeks 4 days....! This doesn't make sense to me, because I thought the first 2 weeks of calculation are when you have your period and ovulate. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks!

it is a bit confusing hun. but if we work it out our selfs weare pregnant for 9 months exactly when the doctor works it out we are pregnant for 9 mnths and 2 weeks which is 40 weeks. i dont no why they do this they just do they take it fromthe first day of your last period and say thats when you got caught so even if you was bleeding it still counts weird or what. but all health professional will work it out this way so just go with them your scan will confirm for definate.

Thanks for this. You're right, I'm just going to have to go with the scan. Hopefully have more information next week.

Thanks! It's true, they do come when they're ready. I was just hoping to be a bit further along, because I've been worrying myself to bits about it all, and felt that if I was further, then there was more chance of this LO staying with us. The dr has just called and said that he's recommended to ante-natal that I have an early scan. I just hope that they listen to him.

Wow you must be really excited now. Nearly there! Good luck with everything and thanks for your advise and help!
