Cool

Old Wivestales and heartrate as gender prediction.

Just wondering how the old wives tale of the hearrate was correct in predicting the gender of your children. They say that a heart rate under 140 usually means a boy and that a heart rate of over 140 means a girls. i for one have 3 girls...2 with heart rates UNDER 140 and 1 with heart rate over 140. Didn't hold true for me!! Now pregnant with #4 will have to see if it is right this time or not. haha!!

Mine is pretty steady around 146. When I was really early (8wks3dys) it was 178 bpm and now is staying around 146...she's a girlie so..it's true for me.

Most babies heart rates are over 140 anyway

Early on in a pregnancy they are over 140, like pitbullmommy says, her babies heart rate was 178, but since then it has slowed down. This holds true for every pregnancy. The babies heart starts out slowly then gets faster until it reaches a certain point, then it begins to slow down again. And as I stated in my earlier post TWO of my children had heart rates of less than 140.

There's only a correlation between gender and heartrate during labor where girl's HR tend to increase, and boys tend to stay the same or drop. (145 being the midline HR... above 150 girl, below boy.)

I'm just talking about OLD WIVES TALES. Just wanted to know if this one seemed true or not for other people...just something fun to pass the time.
But here is a link to show the wives tale is just as I have said.

ooops says I need 10 posts to send a link. Even though my last post says I have 10 posts. I'll post this one and try again.

OK I'll try the link again. It has many old wives tales...not just the one about the heart rate. They are amusing to read and fun to see if they are true or not for different people.

I'm still just at the end of my first trimester...HR was 160 at my prenatal check-up yesterday, but I can't remeber when it is supposed to start slowing down. I go for my US on April 03, will be pretty much 20 weeks then so should have a better idea of what the HR should be by then. Yay!! I can't wait for this US.
