When is best to tell ?

Hi Im just wondering when you girls thing is the best time to tell friends and family that your pregnant?
Do you wait until first scan and then tell them or tell them before?
Is it a good idea to tell closr friend and parents earlier, just incase the worst happens and you need there support?
What has everyone else done?xxxxxxxxxxx

I guess everyone is different so tell them when you feel comfortable with it.

Some people don't like to share their news till after 12 weeks when the risk of miscarriage drops or until they've had their 12 week scan but others share the news right away & would tell people like their friends or parents if something went wrong anyway.

I told my sister and nan as soon as I found out and my nan told my mum who soon told everyone else. I think I waited a week or two before telling my friends but only because I'd been pregnant before and figured they'd be sick of hearing about it!!

It is completely up to the individual. Some people feel they tempt fate if they tell before the 12 week scan, and others can't keep quiet because of excitement (me ).

I think what will be will be, and if things do go wrong it would be nice to have the support of others around you. But that thinking isn't for everyone!x

I told the family at 8-9 weeks after our first scan. But we told them to keep it quiet until our 2nd scan which was the other day.

We've now finally announced it to everyone. (11 weeks)

I completely agree and would tell close family tomorrow if I could. But DH said he would like to wait until our 1st scan before we tell people so he knows everything is ok so I am completely fine with waiting. I do agree though that you do need support if anything goes wrong and we confided in my brother and sister in law as they recently had a baby so know what we are going through for support. Also is great to have others excited with you!

I wanted to wait until the scan but my OH told his parents on Xmas day so I done the same...he then proceeded to tell EVERYONE! Even strangers that he was going to be a dad! haha!
So everyone knows except folk at work, I told my boss as I felt rubbish but its not done the gossip rounds yet, I know exactly who to tell after the scan though and everyone will know within hours!

There are no set rules of when to tell. Many wait until the end of the first trimester.

I told everyone right away in all my pregnancies. Reason being is that if I had miscarried they all would've been told too. Besides, I'm not as patient as most in keeping a secret such as this

I've only told my mom, sister, best friends, and one of my best friend's mom who is like a second mom to me. The OH wants to wait to tell his family and friends until after we are sure that the LO is healthy, etc. Depending on how I feel though, I may have to tell my work sooner vs. later.
