Anyone else on daily Clexane Injections?

Hi Just wondered if anyone else is having to take clexane injections.

Im on them throughout my pregnancy and upto 6 weeks after the birth.

This is because following the birth of my son I developed breath difficulties, felt very anxious and had a crushing feeling in my chest. I was rushed back into hospital where they discovered I had a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in my right lung). Apparently most people die within hours but thank god for a brilliant midwife!!

I don't have any clotting disorders but am high risk so I have to take the clexane injections which stop my blood from clotting.

I just hoped there would be someone else in the same situation?

Would love to hear from anyone who is!! Thanks!

WOW that must have been awful

I too am on them and I don't have a blood clotting issue, it's due to my previous mc history. I've to inject until week 36.

I took them with my last 2 pregnancies.

Mainly due to high risk of PE due to my weight

Is anyone else finding the injections are really painful?

Apparently I'm using a new style injection which has a big white plunger bit and the needle pops back up on its own but it blinking HURTS!

Poppy666 your in a very similar situation as me then, I had my PE in May 2008 and it was the most scary time of my life and Im praying this pregnancy goes smoothly. I also had terrible panic attacks after, did you?

Hiya yeah i always panic i had mine this January only came off the 6mth Warfarin and got pregnant a week later i still feel the damaged tissue in my left lung when i take a deep breath..... took me a while tho to take the injections because i was worried id harm the baby etc but came on here and some lovely people help me through my fears and i started taking them.

My injections dont really hurt because i use an ice pack for 30 secs before i inject but the Tinzaparin stings whilst its going in x

Hope your ok xx

another one here, dvt & PE in both lungs in 2003 so been on clexaine since week 18 as a precautionary measure, Like you, I'll be on the injections until 6wks post birth,
I'm injecting twice daily at 60mg a go so have some lovely looking bruised thighs at the moment.
You do get used to it, just becomes part of the normal daily routine really.
