Unhappy

Should I be prepared for the worst? :(

Hi everyone!
I am a newbie to this site. I have some concerns and I was wondering if anyone else has gone though anything similar.
Some info on me:
1st preg.
21 y.o.
on no meds
healthy weight
no medical issues
nursing student - perhaps I know too much about this stuff and am freaking myself out??

I have been having irregular periods for the last 3 months (which is odd b/c for the last 11 years they have been like clockwork) and I was about to change my BCP thinking I needed somthing stronger.
well in the process of changing the BCP i got pregnant.
so heres my info

Jan 13th - test negative (i was wondering why my period was late)

around jan 20th to the 22-23 I got what i thought was my period (it was a lot lighter than usual and a lot shorter)

I took a test on Jan 25th just cause I cried in the gym while on the treadmill watching a stupid stupid t.v. show (crazy hormonal), boobs hurt sooo bad I had to wear 2 sports bras, and I did not want to do anything but sleep. - to my suprise, that test was positive.

I went to the doctor to confirm and was sent for an emergency ultrasound (due to the bleeding a week earlier) on Jan. 28th. They could not see anything but a gestational sac....and they guessed I was about 5 weeks at that time.

For the last couple of weeks, I have had some mild abdominal cramping (feels like I am about to get my period or heaviness "down there") but NO bleeding.

I went in for another ultrasound on friday (feb. 8th) and they didnt tell me anything but i overheard them say that they can still only see a gestational sac (no fetal pole...no fetus)....I also had a HCG blood test and I was told the levels on friday were 4062.

Should I be worried that they still havent seen anything yet? No fetal pole...no change...I have only had one HCG reading so I do not know if there has been any significant change week to week.
My girlfriend just miscarried and I am afriad I will too.

Has anyone else gone through somthing similar and now has a healthy happy baby? *crosses fingers*
Thanks ladies

XOXO Valerie

oh hun... it's so early on for them to see much on the scan, so the bloods are the best way to tell. have you been booked for a repeat blood test? the waiting is horrible, and i can sympathise with you. everythings crossed xxx

Sometimes they just can't see because it's still too small. Until they can actually see the foetus they're not going too accurate about how far you are and as I'm sure you know a few days out can make all the difference to whether they can see something or not but you're HCG sounds encouraging.

I had a dating scan at 9 weeks and was told my EDD was definatly 15th May & this was very accurate because it was so early. Then I had a bleed and went back just over a week later and was told my EDD was 13th May. Not really that accurate then!!

Try not to worry. Also cramps and feeling like AF is about to start is very common. I had that pretty much all the time in early pregnancy.

Hi everyone. It has been a while since I have written. Unfortunatly I have bad news. Me and my fiance have lost the baby a month ago

I went and saw my OB gyn and she basically let me know that it didnt seem good since I had gone for 2 ultrasounds and they hadnt seen much. She sent me for an emerg ultrasound the next day and some STAT blood work to see my HCG levels (she told me she expected them to drop from 4062). Well My levels were actually 1900 which was confusing so then I actually expected to see a baby and a fetal pole (since I was expected to be around 10 weeks)....well they couldnt find it with the US....not even with the intravaginal probe.. not even in my fallopian tubes
I was sent right to Emerg for a D&C with a possibility of a laparoscopy (for exploration to see if it was outside the uterus) if they werent able to evacuate and fetal tissue....
they guessed that i had some placental tissue that was still triggering hormone changes....but they didnt know...
it was horrible....
I have no idea what happened. I took such good care of myself right from the very begining even though it was unplanned...
Things happen for a reason I guess.
Well now I am finishing school and getting married in feb. maybe we will concider TTC in 2 yrs from now...

really sorry for your loss. I had the same experience last year (although on IVF), however on the bright side it seemed to have increased our chances of getting pregnant again (actually getting pregnant in the first place) as 3 months later we have a natural BFP.. So when you're ready, hopefully it won't take that long to happen again..(we waited 6 years!) good luck matey..xx
