Concerned - Should We Be !!!

Good morning to all, I promised the wife I would try and find out anything she asked, and the reason I do so is not only for my own reassurance but the fact is we have been trying for a baby since we married 2 years ago, and in 2 years we have been unfortunate to endure 2 miscarriages, it is very hard for us anyway as I had mumps when young which lowered my count to only 1 million where the average is 400 million, so it has been harder no matter how hard we tried to finally get the pregnancy we both long for. My wife last had a period on the 1st of December 2007, and we was on holiday in Scotland over New Year, when we got back on the 3rd jan we did the test and our Xmas present was that she was finally pregnant again for the 3rd time, we are due for our 1st scan on the 11th February 2008 in just a few days time, a milestone we never reached with the other 2 due to the miscarriages. My wife is not a strong person although I think to endure it twice is evidenace to suggest otherwise, and for the last month she has been very worried, and very upset in times as she the only thing in life she wants is a baby of her own, and to be a mummy, anyway thats the picture to date, yesterday she wiped and had what she described as brown/yellow discharge and a minor tummy ache which has today gone and I asked if she was OK this morning and she seems to be but she doesnt know what to think of the discharge etc, so has anyone else had this, is it normal, should we be concerned, in the last 2 she never had nosebleeds, she does now, she has small tummy growth but I personally didnt expect it at 10-11 weeks, but shes defo bigger than she was before Xmas, any help and advice would be appriciated!

Hey there!

Congrats on the pregnancy!!!

I'm also 10-11 weeks now

Really you must try not to worry. Worrying isn't really healthy for a preggie lady. It sounds impossible since we tend to worry about every little thing but really try to relax. You are her support at the moment you need to have strength for her. You need to be the rational one.

I had a miscarriage last year September. It's really hard to go through. Any woman who goes through it is definately not weak. It's both physically and emotionally draining. By far the toughest thing I've ever had to go through.

About 1 in 4 women bleeding during their first trimester. Most of the time it's nothing to worry about but I would suggest she phone her midwife or gynae and bring this to their attention.

As for showing growth at 10 weeks. I am. It's not baby yet but it water retention.
If all is fine at 10 weeks then she's out of the danger zone. They say the embryonic period is the time where there are the most risks.

I wish you both the very best of luck. Let us know how it goes. My next check up is on Tuesday so I also know how frustrating it is waiting for the time to arrive.

Our next appointment also on Tuesday, for the scan we hope we can get to this time, our estimated date is 9th September, I have read loads not just on here but on other forums as well and there is a general notion that this happens a lot and in varying degrees.

Although i have never experienced bleeding, a lot of ladies on this forum have and its seems to be pretty common. I would suggest informing your midwife anyway, i read in my handbook (that they give you at midwifes) you should always inform them.

As for the nosebleed i have had one in this last couple of days, not actually flowing but like when i blow my nose theres blood. I saw the midwife yesterday and she said eveything was fine and we listened to babies heart beat again, so i am not going to worry, maybe speak to midwife about this also.

Good Luck!

I had bleeding last week, it stopped after one day and didnīt return (touch wood). I spoke to my midwife and she said as it had stopped then try not to worry. She also said that the only thing that would reassure me was to have a scan to see the heartbeat. I didnīt bother in the end as I had bleeding (red blood) with my DS and everything was fine (he is now a very happy, healthy and lively 3 year old). Maybe as youīve had 2 previous m/cīs (Iīve had one before) you should ask to have a scan ASAP just to make sure. The best thing to do would be to call your midwife, worrying is not good. At least youīll find out for sure XXX

Hi, I feel for your wife, i have posted a note on another thread about brownish discharge as i had it for two weeks and it was a lot which worried me, I was sent to the early pregnancy unit and they scanned me to reassure me, this has happened twice as the discharge persisted, i've found from this site that it is so common, but it freaks us out. If your wife is still a little upset my advice personally would be take her to the early pregnancy unit today and explain, this is my first time and they were great with me, the fact you have both suffered two miscarriages, i'm sure they would be even more understanding and for peace of mind why wait till Monday. Keep us posted... and good luck. x

Hello

Congratulations!

Firstly bleeding is very common, but it sounds like that is old blood and nothing to worry about tbh. The time to worry is if it is fresh blood accompanied by cramping, then conact your GP ASAP.

As for the nose bleeds again they are very common that is due to the excess volume of blood and the narrow vessels we have up our noses, so that is fine to.

The tummy growth will be down to bloating, this happens with excess water during pregnancy.

So all in all it sounds like you are doing great!!

Keep positive and good luck for your scan next week! x

Congratulations on the pregnancy!

In my first trimester, I bled 4 seperate times, once passing good sized clots. The woman body is a strange, weird place that I don't think anyone can really understand.

Try not to get too worked up and enjoy your weekend!

Well i'm glad she's feeling OK and maybe filling your weekend with stuff to take your minds off it will help bring Tuesday closer, the waiting is a killer. Let us all know how it goes, i'm envious that your scan is Tuesday, if only we could all be scanned on a weekly basis.
