| Constipation (TMI) Hey ladies....I am wondering how bad is constipation suppose to be? I am having it really bad...horribly bad. I use to be very regular, have a bowel movement daily sometimes 2-3 times a day, but now I have one about 2 times a week. And when it is time to go to the restroom it is excruciating! I am not joking...it hurts so bad, that I am sweating and sometimes (TMI and I am sorry...) I have to get toilet paper and try to help it along. It cuts me and I always bleed. Afterward my bottom is so sore, it hurts to sit on. This is very embarrassing for me to write, but I am literally scared to take to go to the bathroom. I don't know what to do, the only beverage I drink is water, so I know it is not because I don't drink enough water...thats all I drink!!!! Anyone have advice? | | | | Status: Offline

| hi, i know how you feel hun as i suffered really badly with my first pregnancy. this time though ive upped my fiber intake, ive been eating lots of shreddies, weetabix stuff like that and im only eating brown bread and i drink at least a full carton of fresh orange juice every day too. Have you spoken to your nurse, dr or midwife about it? i know when i was pregnant with my son they prescribed me a liquid laxative medicine that helped alot but wasnt too strong. i was worried when i first took it in case i would go from one extreme to the other lol. i know its embarrassing talking about it but it would be worth it xxx | | | | Status: Online

| I got some lactulose but it made my stomach ache so stopped taking it
I know exactly how you feel. I got 2-3 times a week now and most of the time it's so sore and 80% of the time I bleed a little and then it's so sore for the next 2 days that I am thankful I know I won't go again.
Only thing that has helped me so far is orange juice. One glass in a morning and a big one at night helps a lot. As does a good curry
But I sympathise, it's not nice at all xx | | | | Status: Offline

| I sympathise too! With my first pg I suffered terribly and it was really painful, and it even lasted 2 or 3 months after I miscarried, and never really got back to 'normal.' Now I'm 4 weeks pg, and i'm noticing that stools are harder already, so i'm desperately trying to drink loads (not really succeeding!) and to eat more fruit and veg. I really would suggest talking to your doctor about it. Hope you find something that helps.
(Chele, can't believe you're 12 weeks already! That's gone quickly - but I bet it feels slow to you! Can't wait til I'm 12 weeks!) | | | | Status: Offline

| I'm the same, although I had a little break recently where my body went to the other extreme and I had almost-diarrhea... now I'm back to constipation. Very irritating! | | | | Status: Online

| Thank you ladies! I was so embarrassed to write about it but I am in so much pain that I need the advice!!! I think I will try the orange juice and fruit and if it does not work I will ask my doctor. For the cereal what do you guys think about frosted Wheaties...do you think that will be of any help? | | | | Status: Offline

| Eat lots of fruit and fibre!! dont know if your allowed any laxatives but lactulose is good if we're allowed it? (i know because i used to get badly constipated, and it helped me then) x | | | | Status: Offline
