I've heard somewhere that a damp teabag is good for coldsores... and ice. Not sure about the over the counter things like Zovirax, best ask the doc.
Cold sore are often triggered by pregnancy..

I thought using ice could cause them to swell???

Anyways...not too sure about over the counter stuff. Best to ask doc.

I asked my OB about cold sores (I tend to get them when I've been sick or when I'm stressed--have two right now actually) and she said that topical creams are completely safe to use.

I actually knew I was pregnant when I got my cold sore.
I just knew it had to be connected.

i always suffer with coldsores even before i was pregnant and ive tried all creams you can get for them but the only thing that works for me is aquafresh toothpaste, yes aquafresh toothpaste.
its only aquafresh though,no other toothpaste.
Aquafresh seems to dry out the coldsore quickly into a scab.
i usually put it on before i go to bed and over night it dries and in the morning a get a wet cotton wool pad and wipe the dried toothpaste off.
it takes a couple of time for it to dry out but its the best ever and cheaper and lasts longer than a little tube of coldsore cream.

may sound weird but give it ago.
