Hi all

Now I put on another post about the confusing way I becams pregnant.

had 3 af's in December (I think I had a chemical pregnancy) and had a proper af on 31st December, which would ahve been the time for my due af, if you follow.

Had sx on 3rd January, obviously just for the hell of it, no planning done, but had ewcm on the following day, 4th January. I found out today that I am pregnant. Of course, stright away I went on the how to calculate the due date.

Now they say put in the 1st day of your last period. Ok. Then it gives you the due date and says I would have conciived round about 13-15th January (depending on which website I looked at).

My question is, when do you concieve? Is it the day you have sex, is it the day after, 2 days after? How long does it take for the semen to reach the egg??

It's been one of those months so only had sex on 3rd January, previous to that it was the 9th December (ok, ok, not had it much lately due to mum in law visiting too regular and work has been horendous!!) I can only see it being from January.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this please??? How long gone could I be?

Ok this is a guess. Cause I'm too lazy to find my info LOL

I think it's something like 3-6 days for the egg to reach the uterus and bury itself into the wall. But the sperm doesn't reach the egg immediately. I can't remember how long that takes.

Of course I may be completely off but I think that's it.

Hmm that's got me interested now...

just reading ur thread, i read that sperm can only last for 7 days if your lucky, so the 13-15th sounds a bit far away from the 3rd to av concieved, id guess that u concieved earlier than that. av u got ur period dates rite?

Yes, I have the right days as I write everything down.

December was a weird month as I think I may have had a chemical pregnancy.

Normally - my cycle is 30 - 35 days.

November - 23rd af at 28 days (this is not normal, only had 28 day cycle once before), very light. After finishing af, my boobs were very sore and I was tired. NO symptoms prior to af, was a total surprise.

December - 13th, 20 days after last af, very light.

December - started spotting, sore boobs, heavier than the last 2 but more like my normal af. Also, I would have been due af at around this point, the middle one on the 13th, not sure what that was, suggested it was a chemical.

So then we come to now, I would have been due af at the earliest 28th January (30 days) to Saturday 2nd february (35 days but have gone longer on a few occasions).

So we are now on cd38, didn't want to do the test as didn't want to jinx (happened before, thought I was, tested, got bfn and af started later that day or day after).

BFP - I am very chuffed, over the moon just very puzzled.

I've just done another one:

1st day of last menstrual period:
Monday 31st december 2007

It says:
Conception Monday 14th january 08
Estimated Due Date Monday October 6th

Today I am 5 1/7 weeks pregnant.

Ok but if conception happened for example, the day after we had sex, then would that make me an extra 10 days pregnant????? So I would be approx. 7 weeks?? Oh so confusing, I don't really care, I'm pregnant, I want it to happen this time. I think it's more to do with getting past the time I mc last year, I was 9 weeks. I just want everythign to go ok this time. I'm 38 this year, really no spring chicken anymore, I'm sure my eggs will run out soon!!!!

the due date that you get from a doc or a website will be give or take 2 weeks off anyways so i would just obviously assume October and try to get it nailed down better with your doc when you get a scan that shows the size of the baby. looking at the size can give you the best idea of fetal age.... implantation can take up to 2 weeks after conception...

Have you spoken to your doctor? You may be able to get an early scan done since you aren't sure how far along you are.
