I'm pregnant, now what do I do? lol

Just found out a few days ago i'm pregnant (planned, DH and i both VERY happy!). i had a blood test done and the doctor seems to think i'm about 3 weeks along.

i'm a bit clueless as to what i do now though lol. i feel a bit silly but i'm not sure what i'm supposed to organise next. how do i tell when i am ready for my first scan? should i get a midwife now or is 3 weeks too early to get a midwife?

this is my first pregnancy and i've been reading books but wanted some advice too

I am like that too. I'm almost 7wks though. At the moment im just pottering along. I haven't been for a scan yet, am thinking I might at 12weeks just to get a more affirmative due date.

Have you been for all your routine blood tests?

yes i feel a bit like an apprentice at this pregnancy thing because it's my first time and although i am learning and reading, i feel like i should be DOING something, like going to a doctor, finding a midwife, etc. i'm just not sure if it's too soon.

i LOVE your avatar, very cool!

hi there,

i am unsure where u are based, but in the Uk, normally if u have seen ur doc they normally arrange a 'booking in' appt with the midwife for you (or at least they did in my experience) all scans and stuff are usually sent in the post to u nearer the time ( other than private ones course) I am not really sure how it works elsewhere tho. Anyhow Congratulations on your conception .xx

Thanks, I think i got it from www.baby-gaga.com.
I know exactly how you feel, it's my first pregnancy too. And i've been told the first trimester goes the slowest, especially since it's so exciting and I don't know about you but I can't wait to start showing!

No, it's not too soon, hun (and congratulations!! btw)

As soon as you know you're pregnant you should make an appt at the docs, who will get you a booking in appointment with a midwife. Assuming you are in the uk?

Best of luck!

I'm in the same position, I found out I was pregnant on Sunday and I think I'm about four weeks gone.

I'm feeling totally clueless too. I've rung my GP surgery who said they will pass on my details to a midwife who will contact me, so I'm just waiting on that really. This is my first pregnancy too so have no idea what happens next

It's all very exciting though!!

xx

In my area, after having your pregnancy comfirmed by the hospital or your GP, you get given the number for the community midwives and they will book you in at around 10weeks, when she comes for your booking interview she will arrange for you to have a dating scan

Where I am (Canada) I had my pregnancy confirmed by my GP at 4 weeks, I went back in to see her at 10 weeks and from there she referred me to an OBGYN. You should talk to your doctor or find a MW soon if you plan on having the Triple tests done (they have to be done before 12 or 13 weeks I believe).
