HypnoBirthing

Hi, I'm considering doing Hypnobirthing. Which is where you use breathing techniques and stuff to help relax yourself during labour and create less stress on your body and baby. It also helps relieve of the fear of labour.
I'm just wondering if anyone has used it before and if it helped? Also did you use DVD by themselves or go to classes as well?

My Dh and I are signed up for a class in April. I am due in May, so I can let you know in June how it all went.

Hi Sarah,

I can't teach you HypnoBirthing myself as I'm nowhere near Queensland, but if you'd like to have a look at my web site there are some lovely stories from ladies who have tried HypnoBirthing through us. If you look for "thehypnobirthingcentre.co.uk" and look at the list of stories on the right hand side you will get a few different opinions on the experience. I think they're amazing, but then I would say that wouldn't I!

All the best with it anyway, I wish you well for the birth and I'm sure you'll find a great practitioner near to you.

All the best,
Katharine

I'd love to hear how it goes Sam! I have found a lady near me who does it, costs a pretty penny but I figure if it's going to help with my labour and possibly anything else I want to do in life that requires pain or whatever then it's worth it. I'm lucky I have a supporting partner who will do anything to make me happy. I have explained what it is to him and he seems fine with it. As I said to him, I'm gonna be the one going through the pain so i''d rather make it as good of an experience as I can, and I know he will help me through it all.
I'm only 7wks or so now, so I have plenty of time to think about it and i'll be able to start pretty early.

Hi Sarah - Gentlebirth is now available in Australia. It's a 5 week hypnobirthing homestudy course so you don't need to go to a workshop if you're motivated to doing it at home yourself - it does take discipline !!! But it's the easiest 'homework' you'll have ever done. It's going to be in all the Bounty bags in April with a free breastfeeding CD. If you do a search for
'Gentlebirth Hypnosis' you'll find the distributor in Melbourne.

Lauz - you can learn the techniques yourself - it's great to have the support of the partners but sometimes it's like getting blood from a stone - at least that's how my DH was.

Any questions please feel free to shout :-)

Tracy
