I'm Currently Feeling: | Nervous newbie with a few questions Im not too sure where to start so please bare with me!
After a few years of trying & using fertility drugs my husband and I are now pregnant - i cant begin to tell you how pleased we are.
The start of my last period was 17th Dec and therefore i think i should be at least 6 weeks gone. Is calculating the due date and how many weeks pregnant you are an exact science or is it mainly guess work??
I am having these funny pains in my tummy - nothing too serious but i know they are there and they come and go, also my urine seems much stronger and im getting a thicker discharge - are all these things normal??? I would have asked my Dr all this but i just got fobbed off (see below)
Also i had a scan with the fertility clinic on Friday and my Dr says im only 5 weeks 3 days and baby is very small - she seemed quite shocked about this and we kept seeking reassurance but she just told us we are pregnant and to come back in 2 weeks for another scan.
Im now in a terrible state thinking that this pregnancy may not be viable but she just wouldnt tell us!!
If any of you could please put my mind at rest about these queries it would be really appreciated? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Firstly CONGRATULATIONS!!
Funny pains - if they feel like dull period pains then thatīs completely normal, itīs just stretching ligaments.
Urine - Mine stronger too but canīt tell you if thatīs normal
Thick discharge - yup, disgusting, but normal
As for your doctor, maybe sheīs just no bedside manner. Try not to stress about it, I know itīs difficult but it wonīt do your LO any good
Hope Iīve helped in some way XXX |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Calculating due date isnīt an exact science, they should be able to pretty much predict when you are due from your dating scan tho.
You usually ovulate around 14 days after the first day of your last period so thatīs how they work it out, if LO is looking smaller than they thought then maybe you just ovulated late XX |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Calculating the due date is not exact science, you may have O'd late, do you know when you O'd?
The stronger urine is normal I think, I seem to remember mine being a bit weird while pregnant. Could be a UTI? Also if you're taking prenatal vitamins it may have a funny color.
The discharge is normal, mine was very strange throughout both pregnancies
Just try to stay calm until you get another scan, youīll probably see the hearbeat next time, right? Is the doctor taking blood tests to see the hcg levels?
Good luck! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!
Don't worry about the difference in due dates from you last period and your scan. They're often a bit different and if you made it 6 weeks and its actually a bit over 5 weeks it's hardly much of a difference! Mine was a couple of days different too. Like someone else said, it's normally due to early or late ovulation & if they're keeping an eye on the growth by giving you another scan, I'm sure they'll put your mind at rest.
Increased discharge is very normal all the way through pregnancy. Discharge in quantities you've probably never had before!!
Darker urine is probably caused by dehydration because you need to drink a lot more now.
Cramps and odd pains are also very common. They often feel like period pains in early pregnancy. Some people have them quite badly. As long as you're not bleeding with it, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Try to trust your instincts and relax. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you all so much your words of advice they are very comforting - big hugs to you all
I have not been asked to have any blood tests yet but i suppose this will come in time?
It must be said i hate them as i have had so much blood taken over the last couple of years im surprised i actually have any left and im not a prune!
I have never needed much to drink throughout the day and could happliy go for hours at a time without needing a drink but now i feel parched all the time!
I can see me sitting on the loo for days - supping water one end and it coming out the other!
Thanks again you have really put my mind at rest and it is very much appreciated | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think the timing of the blood tests depends on where you are located. I'm in Canada and had mine done at my first doctors appointment at 4 weeks. |

Seven needles going into my arm. LOL Guess what I have to do tomorrow?! | | | | Status: Offline
