Anyone conceive with raised prolactin levels or short leutal phase?

I had a raised prolactin levels in 2000 before which settled down and my levels were normal in 2007 but I have always had abonormal milk production. The doctors said in 2007 it was probably due to either the pill or the antidepressents I was taking but I have been off both for nearly 3 months now and I'm still getting the milk production. I went to the doctor the other day and explained I am still getting the milk production even after stopping the pill and antidepressants and she has sent me for another blood test. I'm really worried there might be problem now as I know high prolactin levels can affect your fertility. Since coming off the pill in July I appear to be getting an LH surge each month on my clear blue digital ovulation tests but am getting them around CD20 and only having a leutal phase of 6-7 days. Did anyone else have problems with their Prolactin level and/or short leutal phase? I know I've only been off the pill a short time but I can't stop worrying.

I'm not sure if this will be any help, but one of my friends had a hormone problem (no idea of it's technical name) which made her leak milk all the time. I think her body thought it was pregnant. The dr's put her on some pills to even out her hormones and they worked, but they told her she'd probably never concive naturally. Anyway, one forgotton condom later and she found her self pregnant! So there is hope x

Hi,

I have prolactinoma too but I only found out after having come off the pill after 8years. It took me a further 2 years to work out what was wrong with me as the only symptom I had was lack of a period which is something that can happen after being on the pill. The NHS made me wait for nearly a year before the bood tests started. My doctor put me on Norprolac (quinagolide) which reduced the levels of prolactin by reducing the tumour and although we thought it would take time to conceive it only took 3 months. We were caught by surprise by it all as I had only had 1 period in the 3 months of medication. As a result the date of conception is very vague and I don't know how far along I am until my first scan.

I am not very clued up about leutal phases but my doctor seemed very sure that the medication would reduce the prolactin levels enough for my periods to return so we could conceive and he was right. Even though I did notice that very few people on other forums took Norprolac and was a bit concerned!

Good luck and hope this reassures you a bit that high prolactin levels can be overcome.

oh! P.S Prolcatinoma is a benign tumour in the pituartary gland that increases the production of prolactin.

I think this is what my friend had, she had to have loads of blood tests and an MRI scan to check it out.
