It's not bad luck to tell anyone before 3 months, but some people choose not to as the risk of miscarriage doesn't fall bellow 5% until after the 12 week mark. Some people choose not to tell anyone, in case they do miscarry... However others choose to tell people, on the principle that they don't want to think negatively about the chances of miscarriage happenening to them, and they reason that if they do miscarry then at least they will have the support of family and friends - rather than having to tell family that they were pregnant and miscarried, or keep it to themselves... (Others think it would be very private if they miscarried and wouldnt want anyone else to know, which is why they don't tell anyone until the risk drops).

This one is entirely a personal choice - so the only answer to your question, is if you want to tell people then tell the world, if not, don't.

I told everyone early on but thats because I knew if something went wrong I'd tell them anyway.

The only one I didn't want to know was my mum. I know that must sound strange to most people but we aren't that close and I knew she'd get over the top and emotional about it and then if something did go wrong she'd just make me feel worse. Unfortunatly though my nan told her. I told her not to but she said she guessed. I know that can't be true either because I hadn't seen or spoken to her for her to have guessed but never mind.

Oh and I didn't tell my dad for ages either just because it was difficult.

I told my family the next day. (I'm only 20 so it was a shock). I'm also 7wks and finding it so hard not to tell the world. Mind you, I have told a few friends and a couple of work collegues. I just hope I don't miscarry!

My mum bought the test for me, my boyfriend was at his home so I did it alone in the bathroom. I told him first, then my mum and brother a few minutes later.. boyfriend went to tell his mum and dad. We left other people until 3 months+, even though some found out (eg my brother's girlfriend etc). I don't think it's bad luck, plus with me it was a bit obvious as I was very slim and suddenly started filling out.
