Blighted Ovum??!!

Hi ladies,

I just got back from my ultrasound and they only saw the yolk sac. No baby! The doctor is giving me another week to decide what to do. He believes it is not a healthy pregnancy due to my hcg levels and my lmp. My lmp was on 11-28-07, that would put me 8 weeks 3 days lmp. He said the baby should show by now. On Jan. 25 my HCG levels were 12064. Not doubling from 8400 4 days prior. My belly is starting to show, and I am have full blown pregnancy symptoms. Is it possible to have all of this and no baby growing??? I am so scared, and sick to my stomach. If I lose this one, it will be my 4th miscarriage!

Any advice out there will be greatly appreciated. I need some support right now.

The doctor said to either have a D&E or a natural miscarriage. Those are my options.

Loca, sadly it is possible. For some reason the sac and the placenta form, but the baby does not.

My fingers are crossed that all will be well and your LO was just hiding.

I had ablighted ovum in feb last year. Just an empty sac on scan, Dr said nothing had developed but body "fooled" into thinking pregnancy was happening. He said would miscarry at time placenta would be taking over around 12 weeks. . I had a natural miscarriage at 13 weeks. Sorry you are in limbo, the not knowing must be awful. Fingers crossed with your next scan
