Young adult with some questions

So me and OH had unprotected sex but I was on my period so we haven't thought much about me being able to get pregnant then. But lately I've been noticing that when I touch my lower stomach, it occasionally feels harder like what the belly feels like when there is a baby (My best friend is about 8 months pregnant so that was what I was comparing it to in a way). So I guess basically what I'm asking is how far along do you have to be to be able to feel the baby or fetus in your belly? If I'm not pregnant their might be something else wrong with me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and some other things, AF is due the 18th. If I'm pregnant I would be around 4 weeks pregnant.

With your first baby you wouldn't feel your uterus until somewhere around 12 weeks. What you probably have is tightness from bloating.

But just so you know, you CAN get pregnant on your period. Happens all the time.

Funny.. I asked my doctor today if she thought I got pregnant from the time DH and I had sex on my period (where he ejaculated in me), or the time later in my cycle (where he pulled out). She said - and I QUOTE - "You can't get pregnant on your period. Had to be the later time!".

Funny - cause I know thats not totally true... but it is unlikely to get pregnant on your period....although it IS possible!

ANYHOW - IF you are pregnant, your belly wouldn't be hard like that yet at only 4 weeks. Best bet is to wait it out and take a test in a week or so. Then go see a doctor if you get a + result, or are still concerned even with a -- result. Good Luck.

Wow that's crazy that a doctor would say that when they HAVE to know it's just not true. Some people ovulate at weird times and you never know if you are a weird ovulator or not until it's too late.

Wow, your doctor said you can't get pregnant on your period. That surprises me quite a bit. I know you can get pregnant on your period but it's supposed to be less likely. I've just been confused because I've never noticed this hardness in my stomach like I've been noticing lately and I haven't been able to find anything online to help me figure out whats going on with my body so I figured it was time to ask.

Is the tightness from bloating a common thing in pregnancy or is it not related at all? I can't really test until I'm late but I'm trying to kind of prepare myself for this if AF doesn't show up.

I know - RIGHT???

I think she was saying it to me because I'm not far enough along for the time we dtd on my period to have been the time that got me pregnant? I'm not sure. If it had been the time that got me pregnant - I'd be at least a week or 2 farther along....

But - yea - you're right. People can ovulate early, and sperm can live inside for a LONG time... so its totally possible!

Well that sounds a lot better then your doctor trying to say you can't get pregnant on your period at all. But what you just said makes a lot of sense as to why she would say that to you since you weren't far enough along for it to have been that time.

I know this is a very personal question, but have you pooped lately? Constipation can cause that definitely. Water retention can cause it too. Problem with symptoms this early is that all of the symptoms that might point to pregnancy are exactly the same as the ones you get right before your period so there is no way to differentiate between the 2. All you can do is wait until you are late and then test. I've always had tests show up positive a few days before it was due but it doesn't work that way for everyone.

You can get pregnant on your period. Some women ovulate while on their period or they have fertile cervical fluid, to which the sperm can live up to 5 days at that time (but without that fluid the sperm can only live up to 12 hours. So the saying that you can get pregnant at any time is a huge myth). At 4 weeks pregnant your belly wouldn't feel hard and you certainly wouldn't feel a embryo which can't be seen yet, not until 5 weeks when (its offically called an embryo) is as big as the tip of your finger. Your stomach may be hard from bloating. If it doesn't go away in a few days you can call your Doctor.

Yes I have pooped lately, but for quite a few weeks before I was constipated quite a bit. Sorry for the TMI. And you're right, a lot of what could be pregnancy symptoms are similar to what I get before my period. It's just this whole hardness I can feel in my belly that is different or at least it's not something I've ever noticed before. I notice it more so when I stand up or I'm laying/sitting a certain way. I don't know, af is due the 19th so I don't have too much longer to wait to see if she shows up.
