Swine Flu Vaccine

What are your thoughts on this?? Are any of you getting this when it becomes available? I am in the United States and we can't get it until October. They are suggesting that pregnant women get this first!!

I plan on getting it. Not only will it provide immunity for me, but when the baby is born my breast milk will pass the immunity on to the baby as well and protect it too. It's really a quite simple flu vaccine same as they do every year except this is a specific strain and it's proven to be very stable. No mutations, so the vaccine will be very effective.
There are a lot of strong opinions on this going both ways, so whatever you decide, good luck.

no way, and I'm not even pregnant anymore.
I got the regular flu shot when I was pregnant last year and I swear I got the flu SOOOOO many times, at LEAST 6 different times. I completely disagree with vaccines, especially when the chances of getting the actual virus are so slim. Just another way for the government to suck up more money

I'll get it if its offered to protect my unborn child. Its free in the UK so i don't think its a government money maker at all. If it goes 'live' then it has been proven both effective and safe so i am on board xx

I think I'm going to get it-- did you hear about the 20 year old who was pregnant in Columbus, OH and passed away after delivering. She was a normal healthy woman. I get my flu shots for free but I am sure you insurance would cover it because of the pregnancy. If not your doc can write a letter and appeal it saying it is a necessity. (I am a medical biller and coder) Just a tip if you want it and and worried about having to pay. I would def. suggest getting the regular Flu shot though.

Absolutely not. I refuse to pioneer any vaccine, not least when I'm carrying around my unborn child. Anyone who does want to get this should seek further advice, information and attempt to educate themselves. There is absolutely no reason to get this vaccine. That the normal flu vaccine makes absolutely no difference to flu statistics is only the tip of an enormous iceberg.

Its the pharmaticeutical companies that make the money and vaccines arent neccesarily effective and safe. Most of the time they are the complete opposite.

Im on the no side definitely.

One of my collegues has to get the flu jab because her husband has a really low immune system so she has to aswell as him.

Anyway her dr said that they should have the normal flu jab as the swine flu jab hasn't been tested thoroughly enough so she will not be giving ANY of her patients it!!!

Impossible. Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of media/government scaremongering. She didn't die from swine flu, healthy people don't die from the flu of any kind. She either had an undiagnosed illness or died as a result of childbirth. It is that simple. I would very much like to see the facts in this woman's case and not just hearsay/media publications.

Everybody should take these stories with an enormous pinch of salt.
