UGH. I'm back to school with the kids for a week and 2 days and the little germ-buckets have already got me sick! I have my first cold this pregnancy and I am NOT happy about it!

It sucks being sick when pregnant cause there isn't much in the way of meds that I can take - especially soooo early in the game! I'm scared to take anything! It would be different if I was farther along!

Right now I have a stuffy/runny nose, and a bit of a sore throat. I am gonna use some chloraseptic spray for my throat if it keeps bugging me, but thats about it. When I see my OB on Thursday, I'll see what she thinks is safe this early on too... but I remember from last time around they told me to avoid all meds if possible in the first trimester.

I just don't even see HOW its possible that I could get sick! I am treating my body better than I have in ages! My immune system should be strong.. I haven't smoked in weeks, I am eating tons of fruits and veggies, have OJ EVERY morning lately, not to mention I am taking vitamins! ITS NOT FAIR!!!

Okay - I'm done complaining now!

I was on the same boat as you when I was around 5-6 weeks pregnant.

I took no medicine at all and I thought it would never end.

I just basically drank tons of water and slept a lot and my cold ended in about a week which was faster than when I did take medicine before I was pregnant.

Ummm - yea - I just quoted myself. Is that stupid?? LOL.

Anyhow - I was just reading up, and apparently your immune system weakens during pregnancy so your body doesn't try to "fight off" the baby. Interesting.
