balanced diet in pregnancy

OK i've never really been one to follow what you'd call a "healthy" diet. I worked night shift for 3 years and basically became so used to just eating when i felt hungry that my nutrition intake was probably a lot lower than it should have been thanks to the quick easy micro meals etc. I've been working back on dayshift now since October and i just cant get into a regular healthy eating routine. I work a 12 hour day and mostly eat at work. By the time i get home i'm simply too tired to cook and when i get up in the morning i'm never ready to eat - i've never been a breakfast person.

With the nausea constantly 24/7 and sickness at least once or twice a day i'm really struggling to eat properly and when i do eat its generally something quick (while i still have the notion to eat mainly!)

What can i eat thats quick, healthy and good for bubba?? I wouldnt say i'm not eating because i know i am, but its just the quality not the quantity i'm worried about.

What should i make a point of eating regularly?? (I know what to avoid)

You'll find that your nausea is much more manageable if you eat small meals every few hours. For breakfast I've been eating an apple and a granola bar--it's nice and simple and quick (I'm not a breakfast cooker either). Honestly in the first trimester I was so sick that I didn't eat all that healthy--I ate what foods I knew would not make me sick.

Hiya
I think u need to make sure ur getting plenty of fruit & veg each day.
If ur feeling tired/lazy after ur long shift, I'd advise u to chop up some fruit & veg & keep them in plastic containers so u can snack on those for breakfast or whenever ur hungry!
Drink lots of milk & water.

And how about preparing some meals on weekend that will see u through mon/tue & then freeze a few meals?

Hope that helps

I've had some really wicked morning sickness that is ongoing even though I'm getting close to 16 weeks I'm still having problems eating balanced... I have been assured tho that the baby takes what it needs and it's the mum that suffers. Best I have been doing has been cereal, all the time!

Best of luck to you.
