First Doctor's Appointment

Evening all. Well, I bit the bullet and went to see the doctor today. I dread going to the GP but all the books and magazines say you should go once you get your BFP so I did.

And it was great! I didn't see my usual doctor (a woman), but one of the men and he was soooooo sweet! He must have congratulated me three times. He rambled out as much help and information as he could think of, gave me a choice of hospitals, said he'd book my scan, estimated my due date and even gave advise on telling people! He asked how I felt about being pregnant and when I said we were delighted he said so make sure we stayed delighted, to trust nature to do her thing and even if the MS kicked in to just embrace it all.

I actually left with a big grin on my face! He even asked me to go back and see him in three or four weeks to see how i'm doing (check BP and such).

He was funny about hospitals, said I could go private or just blow the money on a holiday before bub comes (explained all about flying), and then joked how easily babies bundle up if we wanted to wait and take bub on holiday!

Was so nice. Especially as we aren't telling a soul until after the first scan it was lovely to have someone be so optimistic.

Bless!

You're so so lucky. Sounds like you have a great doctor and have had a fantastic experience. Wish my doc had trained in the same med school!!!

Funny thing is both my hubby have been to him in the past and he has been useless, but for some reason a new mum-to-be just brought him into his element!

I too had my first appointment yesterday, it was also with a man who was absolutley lovely too! He was very helpful and supportive and i left feeling quite positive and excited. He kept congratulating me, even though I'd been in tears telling him how my mum was so mad at me!

I'm glad it all went well for you, I hope it all stays this way

Oh me too. Ironically not looking forward to telling my mum (even though I'm married, financially secure and 34!!) Both she and my eldest sister will no doubt find some way to ruin my mood over it.

Ah well, DH family are lovely and they'll be ecstatic!
