Hi Sweetie

See, JUST like me... (having a bit of blood but no pain and everything turning out fine)

Wonderful and lovely scan photo. Hope that you both feel a LOT better now

Did she say that it was "tilted backwards" (or along those lines). If so, like me (again!) you are one of the "1 in 5" with a tilted uterus. In the other "4 in 5" the uterus is leaning forwards, in our "1 in 5" the uterus is tilted back a bit (more upright than actually "tilting backwards" as such...). I asked the sonographer if this was a problem, but she said "no, you are just 'the other normal'". She explained that normally the uterus "rights itself" towards the end of the first trimester and that I may experience some period like pains when that happens.

It means that early scans have to be transvirginal (because the uterus is deeper in the body and is harder to pick up with an external scan) and probably explains why I have had no luck with the doppler yet (again, baby is further away, so harder to pick up the heartbeat).

I would guess that is it. Nothing to worry about at all

Thanks QT. I feel brilliant now. It's like I've suddenly 'got' the fact I'm pregnant and it's so much more real now I've seen that heartbeat. I still can't believe how fast the little thing was beating. The sonographer said it was really strong and I think it was at that point my eyes started to well up! The whole bean was pulsating like crazy!

When she started the scan she said "oh, you've got a backwards womb!" but she correct herself and said tilted. I was a little concerned at first but when she likened it to being left handed instead of right, I didn't really worry too much about it. She managed to find the bean straight away so there were no problems there!

I've seen quite a few different people in the hospital over the past 24 hours, each one of them lovely, and each one said I did exactly the right thing by getting the bleeding checked. The sonographer said something which will stick in my mind - bleeding in pregnancy is not normal, but very common. I think all us ladies need to keep that in mind if we see any spotting. Try not to panic and get things checked out as soon as you can. I had a very scary day yesterday, but at least that's led to hubby and I seeing our bean today and we have a picture to treasure until the next scan.

I had EXACTLY the same thing yesterday (and I live in Manchester like you).
I am 8 weeks and had a rush of bright red blood at work, as you can imagine I was terrified. I had a scan today and they saw an area of bleeding underneath the yolk sac. The heartbeat is still there thank God, but I still feel very worried about it all. The bright red blood has stopped but I still have a little brown blood every time I go to the loo.
Fingers crossed for us both...xxx
Hi Chocbanana

As I mentioned to LouLou I too have the same thing, although I am optimistic as I saw our lo's h/b Monday, couldn't wait to see the epu so booked a private scan. It really is worrying but the same time trying to remain calm, I also am having brown discharge still although it comes & goes.

Will keep everything xd for you, when do you next have to go back for another scan, I am going to the epu Monday morning so am praying all will be well.

Take care, Sarah
Thanks Sarah.
Sounds like we are going through the same thing. I had a scan yesterday and the heartbeat was there, the sac looked fine etc. There was just this area underneath where the bleeding was coming from. I have another scan in 2 weeks time (unless the bleeding gets worse and I have to go straight back). It's going to be so hard waiting for 2 weeks, espec if this bleeding continues!
Let me know how your app goes on Monday, sending you lots of happy thoughts xxx
