| HCG Levels = Have to get another scan ;-( Hi Guys
I found on Monday I am pregnant and am over the moon.
haven't had a period since 1 April so they think I miscarried and got pregnant again after so am early on - about 5 weeks maybe.
went for a blood test on Monday and the again on wednesday to make sure my levels were doubling ok.
The hospital have just called to say my results are back and they have gone up a lot but not quite doubled. They were 3700 on Monday and 6100 yesterday.
They have said not to worry but they just want to check on me and I have to go back for another scan tomorrow.
Is this really bad - anyone had experiences with this? Does it mean I am losing the baby? | | | | Status: Online

| They've close enough doubled, thats a significant rise! I had a suspected ectopic, and the rise in mine in 3 days was only about 100! if you were miscarrying they'd go down
I wouldn't worry too much x x | | | | Status: Offline

Thanks so much for responding so quickly
On Monday after my first blood she said if they rise and don't double they would suspect an ectopic pregnancy but when they phoned they said they werent really sure at all on those figures so want to do another scan to clear everything up. Im glad to get another scan but just hope all ok.

| It still sounds pretty good to me... I am no expert, but I think that it is "obvious" if things are bad (i.e. "near doubling is good"... "nowhere near doubling bad" - if that makes sense).
Everything crossed for you - hang in there

| That is very nearly doubling so I would not worry yourself at all. Everything should be fine! Think of it this way, when you are having a scan and everything is fine, think how lucky you are that you got to see your baby so early into the pregnancy. | | | | Status: Offline

They could see the sac from that but it was only 5mm so only little.
Am hoping it will be bigger and better tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed lol

Definitely try to chill... I know where you are coming from (had an MC at 5.5 weeks back in March), but you have to hang in there and try to relax (otherwise it will be a LOOOOONG 9 months or 21+ years ).
At the end of the day what will happen will happen and - beyond being sensible (smoking/alcohol/food/heavy lifting etc) - there is nothing that we can do. So we have to get on with life and try to enjoy it as much as possible. Worrying will not chance the outcome, just make us feel rubbish (and most probably without jusy cause). This is what both my MW and Gynae Consultant have said. Plus I think (personal theory here) that stressy pregnancy is more likely to equal stressy baby at the end of it: and we ALL want relaxed, mellow babies who sleep through the night, don't we...
BUT - all that said - this is the place to come and air your worries... lots of people to listen, advise, reassure and support you
Definitely hang in there
