Drivinig myself mad with the doppler already! UPDATED!
drivinig myself mad with the doppler already!!! UPDATED!!!!!
Well my rental doppler came today and im already driving myself mad with it!! Thought it may be bad idea to get one but couldnt resist and now cos cant find anything im upset!! Now being reasonable I am only just 12 weeks and I am a large lady so I know its probably just hard to find but given my history of stillbirth followed by miscarriage and then finally my daughter and the fact its taken me 10 years to pluck up courage to have another try at babies im sure u understand!!
Can anyone tell me there experiences of finding it themselves??? One thing I have learned is Im sounding very healthy lol.
Hi i tried mine today... people kept saying it is to early.. but i heard it... all i will say is when you do hear it.. you will defo no when its babys heartbeat and not yours...it took me a good half hour to find... try not to use it every day otherwise it will drive you nuts lol
You can't let it drive you mad - you really can't... some women don't pick it up until about 16 weeks and some STILL struggle at that stage... you will have torn all your hair out by that time...
Mine arrived (bought from ebay) last Thursday and I have used it a few time since with no luck. I have found my own pulse NUMEROUS times in different places, but no baby heartbeat. I am slim (size 10) - so no extra "sound insulation" preventing me from hearing - but still not a peep!
I have just put my doppler away (upstairs) and out of temptation's reach for a few days...
I understand where you are coming from (I had a MC in March), but you have to rise above it to keep yourself vaguely sane. . No heartbeat doesn't mean that baby isn't fine and healthy...
Oh man I am going to sell my doppler! My dr had trouble finding baby and I've been able to find it but not the last time I tried.
I'm about done with the stress I'm putting myself through.
I'm also 12 weeks and I'm thin so that tells you it isn't just weight.
Just wanted to say you have to put doppler so low down like just on or above the hair line and move it so slowly like a mm at a time across the area. I found my sons hb last pregnany at 10+5 (and i was definately not thin).
Don't drive yourself nuts with it but don't worry either you will find it eventually.
Good Luck

I got my doppler last thursday and I was determined to find the heartbeat as it was driving me mad. It was about the 5th time trying that I had luck with it....
Yes, you need to put it really low down pretty much on the hairline. Use lots of gel or baby oil will do as it helps slide the doppler easily. Start in middle and hold in place a few seconds listen, then move a mm to side and listen for a few seconds again.....
I found mine at 11+5 and it is amazing. Midwife told me not to get one and that she wouldnt try finding it til at least 15 weeks.
If you are like me, you will not put it away til you hear something so hope the advice above is of some use

Good suggestion, but unfortunately doesn't work for everyone...
(although I supposedly have a tilted uterus, so that may not help... as do 1 in 5 of the population - so maybe those with tilted uteruses find it harder to find...).
Completely understand your frustrations!! my doppler arrived about a 10days ago and its only been the last couple of days I've had success. I'm a size 18/20 so also a big girl, I agree with everyone here, you need to try really far down, move the doppler very slowly and let it sit for a minute or so before moving it on, sometimes you need to listen behind the main noises as bubs may be quite far back and the HB needs to filter through. I also found I was looking to far to the left side as this is where I could hear all the placenta whooshing noises. Bubs is actually sitting in line iwth my belly button so much more central and I can now find it within about 30secs.
Also try first thing in the morning, before you empty your bladder as a full bladder pushes the uterus up and out and will also help make it easier.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll find it soon
Please remember though some women don't find it until much much later and as much as it is worrying, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.
