baby is measuring approx 6 week but im 7 weeks ???

Hi ladies well im not overly worried , but it has played on my mind a little , had an early scan on thursday i would have been 7+1 , found baby and yolk sac and a lovely strong heartbeat and sonographer said all looked great and as it should be , the thing is she measured baby at approx 6 weeks not 7 weeks , is this ok she said its not an exact thing at this stage as everything is so small and measurements can vary a little at this stage , is this correct or should i be worried . she did say it was an approx measurement , but as i say i have been wondering . i know when i ovulated so there is no room for error there really . just wondering on your thoughts x

thanks for reading

I know exactly when i ovulated and i know we had sex on that night only, not for about 2 weeks before and about 8 after lol..yet when i had my 1st scan they measured me 8 days behind, my 2nd scan, 3rd scan and 4th scan have all also given the date of Jan 12th, though i should be 4th Jan..sometimes it takes longer for the egg and sperm to meet and join together..i was worried originally as the date they have given me means i conceived when DP wasnt even in the same country as me haha..

Hi

Don't worry - Honestly. I knew exactly when I ovulated, exactly when I missed my period, and when my husband and I were last together.... I had an early scan, by my dates was 8 +3. The sonographer dated it at exactly 6 weeks. My cycles are long, but my midwife also insisted on using a 28 day cycle for her dates. so I had 3 possible due dates......I've since had three further scans for various reasons, and hey presto, guess what. My dates are right.... seriously though, babies grow at varying rates.. It will more than likely catch up shortly x

Common to be off on dates... with my 2nd I went to a scan thinking I was 10 weeks but turned out I was 2 weeks behind. Playing the "redo the weeks" thing is so tiring though.

I wonder if you did ovulate on time but the baby wasn't actually conceived until a few days later, since sperm can last 5 days and conception doesn't have to take place immediately at ovulation.

Hi I posted a similar question the other day when I cam back from my early scan. Basically I was told that in the early stages its common to be put back a week and then a few weeks later you often fast forward a couple of weeks and sort of catch back up. The other thing I was told was although I know when I O'd it doesnt necessarily mean implantation was early and could have implanted as late as say 12dpo so that too could also be the reason why, hope that makes sense lol x Are you due to be re-scanned in a couple of weeks?, although Im no expert it sounds like everything you could see means the pregnancy is progressing well and that the little one is as it should be xx

^^^ as above,I went for a scan at '5 weeks'(this was 2 weeks behind MY DATES) two weeks later they'd put me forward an extra week then when I went for my dating scan they put me forward another week, soooo exact match on my dates now

VERY common.

I went for an early scan at "7w 4d" (adjusting my LMP for my cycle length and taking into account my LH surge due to OPKs) and was told "6w & 6d" (so about 5 days out). I had another scan last Monday and seem to have clawed back a day...

I think that the day of conception varies from woman to woman (i.e. when the egg is fertilised), PLUS measuring the embryo/fetus is not an EXACT science at that stage... they can make an error or a milimeter or so and that makes a HUGE difference to the calculations at that stage.

You saw a heart beating - that is FANTASTIC! Once the heart is beating, the risk of MC drops somewhat - which is rather reassuring

Sleep soundly and stay positive...

There are lots of things that could conceivably go wrong during pregnancy, but the chances of them happening to you are very, very, very small. So why spend the next 9 months worrying about them: get on and enjoy a happy and healthy pregnancy
