worried and confused

Last November my wife had a period that would not stop. After going to the DR we found out she miscarried. We didnt even know she was pregnant!

Now almost 8 months later she missed her period. Turns out after going to the dr she is pregnant. Her blood test showed 2800 hcg and 13 progesterone. Dr. say the 13 level is low. She asked us to come back next week (this Tuesday) to check for a heartbeat and see how things are going.

Frankly I am terrified. My wife and are are 38 as way of background. I am very worried over this 13 number and dont want to get us both to excited over the pregnancy until we get more info. Waiting is driving me crazy and also I worry every time she goes to the bathroom she is going to come out and tell me it is over.

this morning she says her stomach is a bit tight kinda like she feels before she gets her period. is that normal? Any info on the above would be great.

Thanks in advance

She'll have a lot of period type cramps and lots of stretching - that's totally normal

Congrats by the way!

I have had cramps like my period was coming with all 3 of my pregnancies now. Also, if I move too fast or get up from a sitting position too fast my uterus feels really tight and as if I'm pulling a muscle. If she's uncomfortable have her lay down with her feel elevated and try to sleep on her left side (I read it's good for blood flow for her and the baby). I wish you both the best of luck. Let us know how things turn out at the next appt.

Hi,

As has already been said cramps, and tightness are normal (the tightness is usually bloating).

I think you cant go on progesterone levels if they have been taken just the once, like HCG levels it is to do with if they are increasing or not.

Good luck for Tuesday, I will be thinking of you both, let us know how it goes.

If the progesterone level is a problem your doc can prescribe progesterone creme or injections to maintain the pregnancy. I have had to use progesterone creme to maintain my pregnancy this time.

Good luck to you both! xx

My blood levels were low on my first test, so they had me come back & take another, they were still concerned after the 2nd and did an u/s finding I was just a little earlier along than they thought. All was fine & we heard the heartbeat at 6.5 weeks. I had some bad period-type cramping as well, but from everything I've read it seems to be normal and had gone away for the most part.

Good luck & congrats!

uggg so we went to the dr today..............

looks like there is a sack but it "seems" empty.

obviously not good. That said wife is having headaches and many other "signs"

dr says we can be off on the timing but she doesnt know. last week based on the levels they "estimated" 5 weeks but it could have been 4 or a little earlier which mean 5th is starting now? anyway not good news wife is not sure what to make of it. we took another blood test so we will see what it says later today. she has not had bleeding or other signs of miscarriage. hopefully we just went to early to the dr and blood test will show us heading in right direction......anyone else had this happen or hear of this happening?

I miscarried my first pregnancy around 4 weeks, but I did know I was pregnant prior to the miscarriage. Many women miscarry and not even know they are pregnant, and many other women miscarriage shortly after finding out. Unfortunalty miscarrying is pretty common. With my 2nd pregnancy I thought for sure I'd miscarry, I just felt I would. I had a little cramping, and my pregnancy symptoms fadded, however, 41 weeks later I gave birth to my now 2 year old son. If your wife was around 3-4 weeks pregnant when you went to the Doctor that could explain the low numbers, maybe she was earlier still. At this point I think its a little too early to tell whats going to happen, and best to wait a few more weeks and then see the Doctor again. I wish you both the best of luck.
