| first scan, didnt go to well :( hiya, i havent posted here much, but i kind of need opinions from others on this one, so here goes
so my scan started and she told me i was 12 weeks today, saw a heartbeat saw a hand and a leg so i was all happy
but then she told me that there was 3mm of nuchal fluid and that 2.5 mm was the normal amount, and that she couldnt at this point detect the nasal bone
she said that at the moment the risk of downs syndrome is small, but was very vague about everything really, so i to say i am worried is a massive understatement, the lady doing the scan said that the hospital has started extra screening and thats the reason why she has noticed it
i have to go to a different hospital for a second opinion on wednesday, and then if its agreed more tests will be done i have come away from it all feeling very deflated
has anyone had the same thing? i am so worried | | | | Status: Offline

| You will need to have the blood tests run to compare in combination with the Nuchal test. I'm curious to how she measured the neck fluid without seeing the nasal bone. I had 2 Nuchals this week since my baby wouldn't hold still and the requirement for them to get the measurement was having a clear profile shot of the nasal bone.
So I dunno. I'd say just be sure to get the blood tests as well. | | | | Status: Offline

| The important thing I think is the fact that the chances are small. I hear that people get low risk warnings often and it almost never turns out to be anything. But if you haven't already, I would recommend posting the same question on the 2nd trimester forum board, because all of those women should have had their screening done already. I'm having mine on Monday, so I don't have experience for you either. I bet your baby is going to be perfect. | | | | Status: Offline

| Really hope it all works out, please let us know.
Sorry I don't have any advice, but MamaCGE's idea of going to 2nd tri is good... they should know more about it.
Good luck! | | | | Status: Offline
