Birthday

So its my birthday next tuesday... my friends said, i should still go out for a couple of drinks ( and trust me they are not talking soft drinks here ), which annoyed me. when im pregnant i do everything by the book ( well almost lol ) i certainly wont drink... am i being stupid in thinking just maybe they could actually buy me something useful instead of wanting to get me pissed.. ( like they normally do every year ) if it was the other way round i would be supportive of them..

They know that you are pregnant, but still want to get you pissed?

What are you doing? Going for a meal and then drinks? Or just drinks?

Have you tried suggesting something else? A nice meal out (if you were just going for drinks)? A girls night in (DVDs, snacks, a few drinks for them)? Something else?

Happy birthday (if a bit early)

Do they know your pregnant?

I would ask them to do something else instead of just drinking. Maybe go for a meal or have a day out somewhere?

If they know you're pregnant then it's really unsupportive

I agree that maybe suggesting go out for a meal or something that won't involve alcohol might be better for you x x

It does seem odd that they would like you to get wasted while being preggers...
I suppose you could still go out and offer to be the designated driver

It was my 40th birthday on Saturday and we had a party. I had one glass of bubbly to celebrate and drank non alcoholic lager for the rest of the evening. I thought I would be bored rigid but the company was great and whilst they got merrily drunk I just had a great time, fun to watch everyone else falling over for a change. What I'm trying to say is you can still go out for drinks and not drink and still have a good time. If they are good friends/good company then it won't matter. So why not remind them you are preganant won't be drinking/getting drunk and see what they say. Because I'm usually a bit of a party animal my friends didn't put two and two together DOH!!...... You just have to make it clear. Whatever happens have a great birthday.

Yes they no im preggers. see most of my mates.. because of there age.. there idea of fun is getting wasted.. i will bring up the idea of going for a meal. which i would attend. then they can go off and do what they want.. but if they try and get me to drink i will have to say something.. there the type to say oh go on one wont hurt.. and will keep saying most of the night! i love them and all.. but jesus they are not being helpful at the moment

Doh, they sound a little niaive

One wouldn't hurt, BUT it is your choice: if you don't want to drink at all, then they should 100% respect that

Meal sounds great: you can all have fun and, as you say, they can go on (and drink or go clubbing) afterwards. Everyone wins

Your birthday, so the treat should be your choice

I would throw a hissy fit they are the only ones that let me get away with it. Then they know you are serious about not drinking. It's easy for them to say it won't hurt, it isn't their baby.
