How true is the old wives tale about a fast heartbeat meaning it's a girl?
I'm convinced that Flump is a boy (no idea why) and he/she has a heartbeat of 174bpm (which the doc says is fine). According to the old wives tale anything of about 160 is supposed to be a girl. Does anyone have any experience of this and also know if it has any sort of scentific basis?
I'd never heard of this until someone posted it on here the other day.
Slightly off topic, there is an "old wives tale" quiz on that link as well. Some of the questions are a bit hard to answer if you're not really showing cos they are about how the baby is carrying, but the first 5 you can probably do now. Based on that I'm 100% having a boy, I guess we'll see.....
i heard opposite that if its a fast heart beat then its a boy infact. thats what people used to say to me and i had a boy but i dont think theres truth in it lol
When I was pregnant with my son all the old wives tales pointed to him being a girl and his heartbeat fluctuated between the two each time I went to see midwife. So next time I am paying no attention to old wives tales etc! Only way to know for definate is to have a scan or wait til you get to meet them.
when i was preg with my girl.. her heart rate was over 170... but because i was carrying low. everyone convienced me i was having a boy.. so also the myth carrying high means a girl and carrying low means a boy, is a load of tosh aswell! x
I've been told because mine was so active at 6 and 10 week scans if less active on later scans it's a boy as girls get more active and boys get lazier! Face it, every tale has a 50% chance of being right!
