Can't see them giving you a scan on the nhs if you have no problems. Have you tried goggling for private scans. Thought there would be some in manchester area. As other lady said may not see much if you are early on. Its very tough when you want reassurance that you are actually pregnant! Can't agree with white lies when you are only showing usual pregnancy symptoms such as cramping. Think its tempting fate and using resources that other ladies may really need. Hope you don't think i'm being a meanie. You will get lots of support from ladies on here, so good luck and welcome

sorry but I really disagree with the suggestions of telling a "little white lie". NHS resources are sotight, and someone else might genuinelly have aneedfor them. I had no clue when I was due this timeround, and I still had to wait for ages, was 11 weeks when scanned.

It is horrible, the early part. The only thing I can suggest is a private reassurance scan. They cost about £70 I think.

hi girls, thanks for all your replys. i decided to be honest with the midwife. and she said my first scan will be between 12 - 14 weeks. so going to buy a doppler off ebay as sometimes they work from 8 weeks. i won't get stressed if can't find the heartbeat though. midwife as reassured me that if no bleeding then everything will be fine. so going to try and start enjoying my pregnancy now and look forward to my first scan in january.
then i will see my midwife again at 16 weeks a few days before my wedding!!!
xx
