Intelligender stories?

I'm not sure if this is only available in the USA, but have any of you tried the Intelligender prediction test? I've read mixed reviews online about its accuracy, so I'm not sure you can trust the result, but since it's pretty cheap, I bought one to do just for fun. I'd love to hear your experiences with it!

This test hits shelves in NZ next week. I'm curious as well.

The most interesting story i've read on internet is that it appears changing your ph affects the test. The dark green/orange test results match up with alkaline and acidic on the little pH strips. If it is infact pH based, I'd say use it for fun but treat it like any of the other wives tales. Your pH affects sperm-friendliness when TTC but once pregnant it can easily change.

I'll try to find the post about the pH tests and copy here.

Let me know how it goes for you-sounds like fun if nothing else.

I found the intelligender ph things that I had read, but can't post as it's on another forum.

If you google "intelligender ph" there's some interesting tests people have run. Sounds like getting a ph test strip will give the same results for a lot cheaper!

Hey Amerikiwi. Did you see the bit on Breakfast about it? Paul Henry was talking to some guy from Oz who is the distributor or something. Anyway, he was saying that it tested for some hormone or other that is present with girls that isn't there with boys? I dunno if that's true... I did read some of the chat about it being an expensive pH test, but also found one woman saying she did an actual pH test at the same time with a different result?

Sounds like a bit of fun anyway - but how much does it cost?

I heard the same thing about it looking for something present in girls, but not boys. Hence it will always say boy unless it detects that hormone. I think that's why lots of people get false boy results (maybe they took the test to early, or not enough of that girl hormone built up or something). It costs $30 here in the USA. I think as long as we keep in mind it's just fun, there's no harm in it.

The way they 'claim' to work is by 'detecting' Y chromosomes in the urine.

Males have one Y chromosome and one X chromosome, while females have two X chromosomes. They say that at a certain point the foetus' chromosomes enter your blood and urine so if you are having a girl then you wont have Y's in your system as you and the baby are female but if you are having a boy you'd have random Y's in your wee.

It's a crock basically or Clearblue and the like would be on to it like a flash

If you have the money to waste it's fine - we did it for fun, it said boy then we had a gender scan and she's a girl

I was just looking on the Intelligender website. They say they test for a 'combination of hormones'. I've just emailed them to ask what they are! I told them that people say their test is just a very expensive pH test... Guess we'll see if I hear back from them!

Hi Freyasum. Yes, I saw the Paul Henry piece too. To me it would make more sense if they tested for something in boys--as wouldn't all female hormones be present in all pregnant women?

Looks like they're selling in NZ for $125! That's quite a mark-up on the US$30.

Edit: just saw your most recent post. Be very interested to see what response you get
