5 weeks and bleeding

Hi everyone.

I was just about to head to bed when I found I was bleeding lightly. I will admit I'm all stressed out now. It's taken me 4 yrs to get pregnant and I've been fine up to seeing the blood now I'm freaking out and all emotional. Is this common? Have any of you guys had it and got through it?

While I have not had any bleed, I know a lot of the girls here have. Are you hurting? Bleeding is not uncommon, and as long as you are not in horrible pain, it should be fine. But also remember that cramping is normal as well.

Here is a link that has lots of info.

If you're not bleeding heavily and cramping severly things should be ok. But you should also ring your doctor and let them know, just to be sure
I had bleeding in this pregnancy, a month during my first tri and a scare at 15 weeks but everything was ok. Spotting seems to be very common. Hope everything is ok

Bleeding is very common in early pregancy. I had some bleeding when I was first pregnant around the time my period was due. I would call your doctor and let them know you are having some spotting...Goodluck

Bleeding in early pregnancy is VERY common!! As long as you have no painful pains and clots, all should be well babe, but if you start to worry contact your GP.

I contacted my emergency health line last night - she assessed me and said to go see my doctor and ask him to send me to the early pregnancy scan unit!

I'm a little more relaxed as it really is common and I'm trying to stay positive!

Big Hugs Hun. Try to stay positive. I hear it is very common like everyone has said. Im glad you will be getting in for a scan to be on the safe side. That will put your mind at ease.

Hi there! I've just gone through exactly the same thing. I started spotting when I thought I was about 5 weeks pregnant. I got sent to the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and it's been a rollercoaster of emotions ever since. What they didn't tell me is that it's unlikely you'll see anything on the scan if you're only 5 weeks pregnant, and of course at this early stage that's only an approximation. Prepare yourself for a blank screen and don't panic! They may well do lots of blood tests and that can be quite concerning. They've been talking to me lots about possible ectopic pregnancy but I've got none of the signs. Hang in there, remember they just have to cover themselves and tell you all the possibilities. Stay calm and do let us know how you get on. I'm still going through this too! x
