Info about m/s being healthy- slight rant lol

I just wanted to say that since my short time on here i've seen far to many posts claiming that m/s is a sign of a healthy baby & this does my bloody nut in, It is simply the way your body reacts to the hormones.

Many of you new mums to be & some 2nd timers like me may find they have bad m/s or no symptoms at all , & the ones with no symptoms seem to worry something is wrong because we are being told " its healthy to have m/s "
I just wanted to settle this & say to any of you who DON'T have m/s this does not mean your baby or pregnancy is unhealthy or harmed in any way.
It purely means your body is coping better with the hormones so please don't panic or worry about the lack of symptoms.

With my 1st i had no real m/s symptoms, I dry retched from 20wks & i'd lost my appetite..
Yet with this bump i've had bad ass m/s & again lost my appetite but both pregnancies were/are superb.

I think i just feel for most of the new mums when they read posts on here saying oh its healthy to have symptoms etc & then they are left to worry why they haven't got any, So forgive my mini rant but i really feel for you newbs who get worried & i hope this makes sense coz so far i've even confused myself now

I think the only reason the girlies say that m/s is healthy, is because its the only sympathy they can really offer - its just one of those things that happens and nothing any one can say makes it better, so we just try to make light of it? I dont think that it is intentional to make out that if you have no symptoms, that its a bad sign. Theres lots of no symptoms threads with lots of reassurance to say that this is normal also xxx

oh i know hun, its not even like its me who's got no symptoms. i just feel sorry for those who ask time & time again & are really worried about it, so thought i'd have a mini rant & just put them all straight that no symptoms doesn't mean somethings wrong.

I think this 2nd preg seems to of made me a little sensitive to 1st timers for some reason ..hormones?? lol xx

I have to admit I did find it a little bit confusing when I first came over to 1st tri as I have had very few symptoms (although OH says that is also partly due to the fact I tend to play down what symptoms I do have). I did spend a lot of timing worrying because I was busy feeling pretty healthy, aside from tiredness.

However I also agree that after a while you also end up reading the threads which talk about no symptoms or lack and I gradually began to relax. Especially once my grandma told me that she felt fine in all her pregnancies. I finally realised that everyone is totally utterly completely different! What one person experiences may be totally different to another person. I guess it is just a frustrating querk of pregnancy!!

Well said!!
I think that once this is realised it makes coping and dealing with symptoms, or the lack of them so much easier.

Thanks DizzyMoo
You're right - this whole m/s discussion was getting me worried - I think i'll just try and cope with the symptoms I do have and move on with things... trying to compare to someone else isn't right - as you said, people deal with things in different way and all our bodies are different

Thanks for the rant and for making me feel a lot more positive about things

As long as your feelers are nice and pink and fluffy, then you can tickle me back

Thanks for this. I have no symptoms, other than perhaps a little more tired than normal and the odd tummy twinge. So I am pretty much feeling fine I am one of those who worries at lack of symptoms so I often come on here and read 'no symptoms' threads! Also my MIL said she was never sick with either of her pregnancies so I agree that everyone is different and some bodies deal with the influx of hormones better than others.
