I'm Currently Feeling:

Toxoplasmosis

I have 5 cats. They are indoor cats and have a rather large litter tray! I've always taken responsibility for cleaning this out and worry if I don't do it it won't get done as other half hates the job.

Does anyone know when during pregnancy toxoplasmosis is a danger?

hi, if you have had your cats a while chances are you are probably immune, unless your eating cat poo, it doesnt really pose a risk

you doc can test to tell if you've already had toxo. I had it tested. I gardena lot (it's also in soil) but hadnt had it.
Not sure if you can only have it once, OR if there are various strains and if even if you've had it once there's a danger of getting another strain or not.

Ask for the blood test and ask you doc. Might be worth wearing gloves a mask or giving the OH a kick up the arse!

I wouldnt risk it.

Chances are if you've have cats for quite some time that you've already caught it and now are immune to it. The chances of actually getting it during your pregnancy are 1:1000. Make sure you wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly after cleaning the litter. And like Yvanne said, don't eat it!

Don't stress over it too much. I have three cats and am not worried. Just make sure that you keep away from touching it and all will be well. If you're too worried, ask DH to do it. You can also get blood work done to see if you've come in contact with it before. Don't worry
